Ouch those are spendy Yeah on My 04 it was like that when I turned the car on fans would turn on almost instantly. I swapped out both fans with my new ones and don't have the issue anymore.

Yeah it's for the radiator, and a warning to all don't delay on this to long as it can/will cause you to be stranded on the side of the road one day if neglected to long

I was stranded after a date to a nice hotel.

Was not happy. When the fan fails you have no choice but to pull over. I was stuck in construction traffic on a 90 deg day.

I've replaced mine twice, $80 part.

I would love to call them and let them know about this.

For those who have replaced this part, or have been through this, around what mileage did this start happening?

Pics or DIY link

Does anyone have a DIY or pictures of this part, I'm unclear of the symptoms that you are experiencing, to have to replace this part. Thank you for your help.

I don't have pictures but if you look at the back of the radiator fan you'll see a black "box" with two plugs in it, one at the bottom and one on the side. That's the radiator fan control unit.

When it starts going bad, you'll notice that the radiator fan continues to run even after you've taken the keys out of the ignition, sometimes only for a few moments and other times for a good 10-20 seconds.

The car ends up running louder than it should because the radiator fan is either constantly running or struggling between turning on and off. Eventually it fails and your radiator fan isn't able to turn on, and some people have had overheating due to the fact that the fan never comes back on. I fortunately haven't but I have had to replace it twice, most recently in January.
