Swap?

Okay don't make fun of this is a stupid question but, is it at all possible to add GSX/GST parts to my 04 RA,basically the turbo essentials and maybe make it 4wd, and please no "if you have money for it buy a Tsi or GSX/GST," because my friend is parting his tsi and willing to give me parts, so let me know what you guys think!!

dude, an 04 Lancer Ralliart has a higher book value than a 2g DSM...if you want to turbo your RA, by all means, the only things that will work are the turbo, some of the piping, BOV, and that's pretty much it, the throttle bodies are different, the exhaust flange is different, exhaust is different, even the injectors won't work properly without modification...you're looking at a kit, or a lot of custom fabrication...I'm not even going to touch the AWD thing with a ten foot pole...not gonna happen dude, you literally have to hack the car apart to do it, and you better know what you're doing and have every tool necessary to do it...and unless you do AWD swaps, or complete car restoration for a living, you probably don't have what you need. Otherwise you'll end up with a pile of metal that's worth its weight in steel.

i've seen 95 tsi AWD's as low as $2,000 with less than 200k, though for $3k-5k you find something nice...if you want turbo AWD, there's no cheaper way to get it...

Haha again! Thanks man, I just needed to hear it from anyone else, because my friend said the same thing haha I guess my RA awe dream will have to wait til I hopefully get an Evo or newer RA, but that's sometime later in my life haha

P.s. Is RRM the only reliable turbo kit for my RA? And is it worth it with 109k miles etc.

don't buy the RRM kit, it sucks...

read this thread:
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/04...hat-could.html
that is the kit you want, it will cost you probably around 4k, but will be way better than the RRM kit.

Or if you're a cheap skate like me, and have some resources, friends, mechanical ability etc., you can read:
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/04...-manifold.html
and
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/04...phase-2-a.html

i've been slowly picking away at the fabrication over the past year...it's a pain in the *** when you custom fabricate stuff on your daily driver...like if i have weekend off, i have to take the whole front end and exhaust apart, see if stuff will fit, take measurements, mock up parts etc. and have the car back together by monday morning for work...it's a *****, really...

This.

You can get a custom kit, blow up the engine, rebuild it and buy lots and lots of beer or.....get the RRM kit

A DSM is definitely your best way for a cheap AWD Turbo and ****, there are still a lot of good quality ones out there.

If you want to do forced induction on the RA, do a bit of research first. I have seen a few people jump right into the RRM kit and well, wasted their money. I am still doing research since February to see what is the right path for me but, if your like a lot of people and the resources are not all there, well then a kit is best but if your like some who have the resources, you can save a bit of money, drink a few brews and build your own kit (not that easy but you get the point).

At 109K you should consider a full head rebuild.

You want an awd turbo car, buy one save yourself the time and hassel. I tell this to all the stupid dsm guys who keep tring to turbo 420a cars and try to make them awd. Your gonna run into a ton of problems, and it will cost you more money then to just buy an awd car.

yeah, but you have to admit doing an AWD swap on a DSM would be a hell of a lot easier than taking the drivetrain from a different car and putting it on a lancer...

I agree but lets be real here I have much better things to do with my time then try to swap a bunch of stuff on a car that if you wanted it a certain way should have bought it. I am not tring to bash no one if they want to do something different, but I have seen it a ton in the dsm world and I just shake my head. Doing a gst convert to a awd convert is different. Why would anyone do that? well simple because it wasnt offered in any year. In this case they offer an awd version. Being evo parts are so much more expensive then dsm parts are, thing of how much money he has to spend to get this to work to the cost a good used evo would cost.
