starter problems again....
i had an issue with my starter before...
when i put the key in the crank position it wouldnt do anything,sometimes it'd take a few seconds to crank...and sometimes it wouldnt crank at all even if i stayed there for like a minute holding the key to crank, and i had to push start it most times...
i asked on the forums here about it...i ended up replacing the starter, on recommendations with other people that said they had the same issue, and the issue went away for about 4 months...now it seems like its coming back...
yesterday i went to the car and tried to start it...took like 15 senconds to crank...i was very angry....i was freaking out tried cranking it like 9 times...each time for longer till i got to about 15 seconds holding the key to crank...and then it cranked...then i was less angry...finally it started but i was like "ok...so.....awesome...issues again....GRRRRR"
then every other time i got in the car it'd do it again...not always liek 15 secs...but always 5-10 seconds...(did it about 6 times)
any thoughts anybody?

I did not reread the old thread but my suggestion would be to choose a time when you have several hours and a friend or other extra set of hands available then, remove the starter and then reconnect it and turn the key to see what happens. Have a multimeter on hand to perform voltage readings and continuity checks. Work your way through the circuitry from the starter motor to the key switch.
I suggests having the starter motor out because that way you may notice cues such as when the key is turned the shaft may extend slightly and you may not notice that happening if the starter remained installed.
Also, to eliminate the starter as the problem, put power directly to it. ( 12V DC while it's uninstalled.)

i didnt check the switch or the starter when off tho...
didnt have issues again till now after i put in the new starter so i didnt bother checking anything else after...in fact it started quicker than before w/ the new starter...you can definetly hear a difference in cranking...before it was just a bit slower and it would take about 1 or 2 secs longer of actual cranking to start

it already has a new battery...its just under a year old...
and i make sure to keep it charged...(i work at a shop, so i put the charger on it now n then...
)
make sure the car is in neutral, if you think it could be the clutch...check fuses, relays etc. delayed cranking would make me think a relay is at fault if the battery and starter are known good...i'll look at the diagram later and see if i can give you an idea...

ok...awesome....NOT...
so this morning i wake up get ready go to the car start it..all fine...realize i forgot my tv dinner i was gonna take for lunch inside my apt, so i shut the car off run inside get it come back out and try to start the car...
all the lights dim, it makes this weird noise...almost sounds like the starter is trying to engage but then it just makes this groaning almost scratching sound...and wont start..(luckily my neighbor was coming out to his car at the moment)...so i asked him to help and we push started it so i could get to work...almost sounds like the starter is barely spinning but not engaging on the flywheel...
i looked around in the engine bay and nothing abnormal...checked the battery..did find that the negative terminal is loose but then i realized..its been like that since i bought the car..(its not so much loose as its just pressure fit to the terminal)...its been stretched somehow and theres one of those "sleeves" in it..(if u dont know what it is its basically a thin ring of metal...steel im assuming..and u put it between the terminal and the cable...its to help prevent corrosion...we used to put em in at one of my old jobs)..and also the cable bolt is seized so i cant loosen or tighten it...so now im going to have to get a new ground cable(wich i keep putting off since i first got the car), and hopefully it fixes something...
EDIT: tested the battery at work for the heck of it...found 12.3v but 200 cca of the rated 690cca...looks like warranty battery #2.....(at leats its warranty...lol)
EDIT pt 2: got battery warrantied...(also upgraded from 690 to 800cca kuzz the guy didint have the right battery in the truck...i could upgrade or wait for the right battery to come in)...AND....still wont start...same noises...im waiting for a new cable end to come in and hopefully that fixes it...(or at least ill fix that loose cable end that needs replacing anyway)...im not paying $150 for the dealer cable for the "fusible link cable" when all i need is the damn clamp....

I replaced my negative clamp long ago, it would lose connection for a split second if i hit a bump and was putting the car in limp mode while 120k on the highway, and throwing random codes...not cool....but i'm not confident that will solve your problem...
I'm pretty confident the new clamp will solve the problem. Starter motors use a LOT of power, requiring a solid connection to the battery post. A loose or corroded clamp can easily cause starting problems.
The radio and lights may work just fine, because they don't draw anywhere near the amps the starter does.
