starter problems again....
I have been having the same issue. Every now and then I get a CEL and this code:
P0335: Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit
Not sure if the 2 instances are related. In my research the CEL will reset after 40 successful starts. Which it did a few months ago. This time I reset the code with the Torque app (one the best apps I have ever bought.) via a bluetooth ECU dongle.
I have a new starter sitting in the garage that I may not have had to purchase.

before the starter wouldnt do anything...the lights wouldnt dim or flicker...it wouldnt click....now the starter just makes this crazy growling noise, the lights dim, and flicker...(already got new a battery)...(again, 3rd time since i got the car)
i sold my starter for scrap a few days after i swapped it..u have it sitting there and could potentially use it...
i guess if u really wanted to take it to auto zone or w/e and get it tested make sure it was really bad or not...at least starting only sometimes is better than not starting at all...

finally got starter in on monday...
just to see exactly what it did (even tho i knew it wast working) i bench tested the starter...
all it did was actuate the solenoid...the starter didint spin at all...
so im kinda confused what that weird growling noise it was making was...but w/e...now it starts fine and theres no more noises...

So did that fix it? A new starter?
I'm having the exact same problems on my 06 Evo.

But I removed my starter and had it tested at Autozone and it checked out fine.

I work at a parts store and its not rare that some rebuilt and even some new ones we have go out in 6-12 months while others last the life of the car.. the noise was prolly the Bendix gear hitting the flywheel teeth... I don't like autozone I had them test a battery they said it was good and tested the starter and they said it was bad I put a stater in no start it was the battery good thing it wasn't my car... I wouldn't put a 50 dollar starter on my DD and hope it doesn't go out you get what you pay for
i have a 2006 2.4 mivec lancer ralliart automatic and i have the same problem. about five to six months ago i had to change the starter solenoid and the problem stoped till now. once again it keeps doing the random problem of not turning on. any one has more ideas???
