question about wiring of stereo
question about wiring of stereo
Hi guys,
I'm going to replace the stereo of my 04 ralliart. I found the No. 3 and 9 on the harness are illumination and dimmer, respectively, but I don't have them for the new stereo. The new one just connects to the ignition 12V and battery 12V. How should I do for those two? Anyone got any idea about this? What about just leave them and connect the other 11? Thank you very much!

The new stereo has a different kind of harness. There are 13 wires: 8 for the spearks, 1 for ignition, 1 for battery, 1 for ground, 1 for antenna, and the last one is optional for an additional amplifier. What I'm going to do is unplug the wires from the original female harness and connect those wires to the corresponding ones on the new harness. Do you think this gonna work? Thank you very much
You should have on the DECK side:
Speakers:

Grey/black
Red (12V Ignition/Switced)
Yellow (12V Constant)
Black (Ground)
Blue/White (Amp Signal Wire)
On The CAR side:
BUY THE PROPER HARNESS! lol If you get the proper harness for the car side, it'll plug into the OEM harness, then it's just a "match the colour's" game.

1. What's the Amp signal wire for? I don't think I've got one.
2. Despite all of them, I have a pure blue wire. From the menu, this one should go to the power antenna. Did you include this as well?
Thanks a lot!
The amp sign wire is one that send the signal to your amp when the deck is turned on to let your amp know to turn on.
If you don't have a blue/white, you can use the solid blue (power antenna wire) to do the same thing, as the lancers don't have power antennas. Run your remote site from the amp to the solid blue in the harness. Instead of powering up the antenna motor, it'll signal your amp to turn on.

No. It won't turn on if there's no signal to tell it to. If you run the remote wire to the power antenna wire, you're essentially doing to same thing the the blue/white accessory wore would to. When the deck turns on it'll send a 12v signal to the amp to tell it to turn on. Most amps need to see that 12 volts from both the main power wire AND the remote wire to turn on.
