Seized tensioner!
Went to the shop to go get my RRM UDP installed and the shop told me my tensioner was seized he tried with a big pry bar and nothing. They tried to look for one and had no luck i called my auto parts guy and he couldn't find one either can anyone give me the serial for it or is there anything that can be done with the one i have now.
it's hard to imagine it's seized...MN149179 is the part number. about $100 USD on mitsubishiparts.net, you might find one cheaper if you google the part number...
it's pretty stiff. but even if it was seized, i would think a large breaker bar would at least get it off, cause a large breaker bar, and some muscle could probably break the metal, pretty sure it's just cast aluminum..

I installed an rrm udp kit last night n it took me 3 hrs should have taken 40 mins if my tensioner didnt give me problems I sprayed the **** outta it wit wd40 n tooj a 2 ft custom made breaker bar attached to the 1/2" drive it took some grrr.but it went. Maybe try a torch under neath it n a breaker bar. Ill check back later good luck
It's the road salt that gets in there and seizes them up.
Mine was seized about four years ago. I noticed it when I changed the accessory belt. My big breaker bar only broke the square drive hole off, so I ended up removing the tensioner, hammering it apart, cleaning it, greasing the heck out of it, and putting it back on with help from a chain wrench. I finally replaced it two and a half years ago, when I did the timing belts.
