Calipers :(

So I got some bad news from the shop today.
My rear caliper is trash I also need pads (already new that) and for them to fix that (plus rear sway bar link) itll be 1300 dollars with labor.

I think I'll be able to handle doing this myself but the problem is the ralliart calipers I see are expensive, is there anyother model that will bolt up? I know the turbo 2g front bolts up I was wondering if the rears do because I found one for 50+50 core charge and that sounds pretty good to me. So anyway the question is will 2g turbo eclipse or na eclipse calipers fit?

I just ordered one from Rock Auto yesterday. Cost 100 something initially but after the core charge it will only be 30 something. Where are you ordering from?

Check rockauto.com.
Surely you can do the rear sway bar link yourself, anyone with thumbs can do it.
$1300 sounds like a fleecing to me, considering it's under $200 in parts, right now it's -14C I need my fleece, I'd pass.

1300 sounds expensive to me too but I personally feel like any autoplace is expensive xD
Im probaly going to go were I have a credit card for the caliper which is pepboys unless the price is insane which I cant seem to find on there website. They have eclipse ones for 50 bucks. If that doesn't work I think i can scrape by buying with cash at autozone for 60+core. I was just currious to save a few bucks. I assume there pretty similar just need to verify before I buy.

just buy the correct part...i noticed that no matter where i get parts from, genuine mitsu or after market everything is more expensive for the Ralliart compared to my 2.0L lancer...just the way it is...$100 isn't that bad...even if it is just a caliper...what you get back on the core will cover the end link...rockauto has good prices.

Impossible to believe $1300 was quoted for one caliper with pads. What are you not telling us?

Evo 8-9 rear brembos bolt up and would be a nice upgrade. Later you can get the front but you'll need some bigger rims than oem.

You have to get evolution front knuckles or make custom brackets for the front brembos. If your looking into it That is.

Evo 8/9 calipers will bolt right up? What about the rotors do you have to change the rotors?

$1300 sounds quite high to me...
they probably told u that u need calipers, pads, rotors, brake flush, links and an alignment to fix it, right? i can't think of any other way it'd be that much...like2006_ra said...it's a fleecing and now's not the time for that...

at most it'll take u a day to do it all yourself if u go slow...(provided u know what u're doing...)
and it'll save you about $1000+ from that quoted price i bet...

i'd just say get napa/oreilly's/pepboys/autozone/rock auto or whatever other aftermarker remanufactured or new calipers u can get inexpensively...even tho u said u drive spiritedly...so do i, im fine and i'm still w/ OE stuff, and im sure most if not all in here are the same way
if u want better braking, u'r probably best off just to get better pads and brake fluid...maybe get the dsm ft calipers...

i'm with nekkidlad...i race my car with stock brakes, though i use a fairly abrasive pad...i haven't even warped my rotors yet, even though i've boiled brake fluid...probably cause i get brake fade long before i get the rotors hot enough to deform

^i hear amsoil DOT4 or (i'd never heard of it before, but i read up on it because i got told about it and it does exist, but i dunno what brands make it) DOT5.1(NOT DOT5, that will ruin your brake system) will help prevent the boiling...

i'm sure u can read up on it and find some online somewhere if u'd like to get some DOT5.1 or info about it
