OBX Header & DP

Just received my OBX Header& DP combo!!

Alright so I recently heard my car from a recording my friend did and never realized how raspy my car was and am not really liking it... This is a recording of my friend scion tc 2011 with descendant exhaust and me with my magnaflow muffler and without a CAT

This is one from inside the car. Not pushing it to hard.. it was snowing like crazy.
You can also hear my bad wheel bearing its really annoying.

Nice header/downpipe combo

Nice videos but anything not at the track/sanctioned event isn't allowed here. I know it seems like I'm picking on you, but that's not the way of it, I assure you it's just the rules.

Obx header question to those who own them

To does that own the OBX header do they make a ticking sound under load. Mine makes a pretty bad one.. Read somewhere that all headers make a ticking sound because the inner wall is thinner? Can anyone clear this up for me ?

Thanks

Exhaust leak??

So recently after installing my OBX Header and DP I hear a weird ticking sound under load. I recorded it and its been so hard to get it online finally this is the only way i can share my mp3 click download file and download should pop up right away

You guys should be able to hear the ticking sound im referring to. Does it sound like an exhaust leak cuz the guy who installed the combo told me he checked and there was no leak or does it sound like a normal header tick?

I figured I would just merge your 3 threads since they are all on the same topic.

Two likely scenarios:

1. Noise from the engine valves are more pronounced due to that specific noise bouncing off the thinner piping of the OBX manifold.

2. Exhaust Leak - I would recommend you purchase better gaskets from Vibrant. Those OBX gaskets are worse at sealing than the O-ring that comes in the OEM CMC.

1. I heard this as well but ive asked around to other people who had the obx header and noone is experiancing this except for....
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/04...s-problem.html

2. Im gona look into the new gaskets. Just spent like 2gs fixing **** and now ive got another wheel bearing to change, this stupid header tick, valve cover leak..(mabey the cause of the tick)?? and pretty sure i need a new engine mount i have this weird bird chirp like noise a little on idle, when letting off the clutch (when the engine shakes), and on bumps...
The sound of the wheel bearing the ticking and the "engine mount" is driving me crazy

Your missing a valve cover bolt bro. You might want to find a replacement and get that put in there. Looks like your leaking oil on that side too.

Ah man that sucks. And my bad it looked a little dark there on that corner could be a shadow from the picture though. The red bolts look really nice, I might have to try that. I had one of the bolts that holds the coil pack cover down break off while driving. I guess I tightened it up a bit too much and the vibrations popped it off. It sucks... :-/

The headers look really good in there, are you going to be heat wrapping them once you fix your exhaust leak? It may actually help the tick a little if it really is the sound of the valves like RalliartizeIt says.

Indeed have to get a new valve cover gasket gona get my valve lash done at the same time might reduce the ticking if it is the ticking valves. . Also gona look at a new header gasket might be the problem of my leak like Ralli said. Also think my bottom engine mount is giving out (weird bird chirp sounds I think it mostly happens when the engine shakes and when I drive over any bumps) was thinking about the BLOX mount but im not sure id be able to handle the rumble on idle. I painted the bolts because i wanted to paint the mivec red but the paint i had was crap and didnt go on properly.
