Its grown on me. With a little love and the right rims... Yeah, that would look pretty sweet.

The NEW Poll on the 2004 Lancer
While i must admit, the styling has grown on me, i'm still disgusted by a few things in particular already mentioned...the grill, headlights, and the trunk/liscence plate. Although we all have to admit that with a body kit, perhaps an evo style, or watever floats your boat, this body style is much more versitile....especially with the grill atatched to the bumper where it should be.
The break down:
Wheels ok.
Truck lid to round for my taste.
Rear bumper ok
Front bumper is ok but you got to change the grill. (bumper kinda reminds me of the Kaminari)
Mivic SWEEEEET!

EDIT: i think if they made a (EDIT#2) FRONT bumper that looked like the evo ix photochop that's been floating around, that would look pretty sweet. (aka the one with the big rally style foglights.)

well since there's the 5mph bumper law thingy, having the license plate on the trunk would make for a smaller bumper since there's isnt a relief for the plate to push the bumper out more. i'm looking to swap that back end into my '02. with a bit of the aftermarket, it wouldn't look so bad. besides, how many of us would leave it looking stock?
oh yeah, a nice body kit would look good since the hood grill isn't attached to the hood like ours.

I am definately diggin the wagon. Watch out Subies!!! I think with some imagination they could be sweeter looking rides than the stock pictures besides who won't want a "decaffinenated" EVO for a grocery getter?
Also might I remind you all of two facts.
1.) Now those of us who bought LS and ES's Have the only American Lancers with the "old" grill style that doesn't look like the EVO and our cars will now stand out even more from the crowd because if Mitsubishi follows tradition, they won't mess with the styling too much for abou 4-5 years.
2.) Car and Driver I believe it was said of our cars (the 02-03 ES and LS's) looked like mitsubishi forgot to take the cover blocks off of the road test models. They were boxy and pointy in a world that embraced the "used bar of soap look" for cars. I think its a great second generation Lancer!

are you really going to be happy with a car that you HAVE to put a body kit on to satisfy appearances? i think in the US if you got an 02-03 lancer your driving a car thats different, maybe less power but with a few mods, im sure we can be as fast/faster than the 04, all in all, i think i'm gonna see a lot of middleaged-older peopel driving the 04, lot less younger folks, its just not eye catching enough or 'sporty' for what people want
