I have a 2004 ralliart and i hear a clunk noise when i start my car after its been sitting and sometimes when i down shift and also sometimes when i press the clutch in at low speeds. Some of my mechanic friends said that it sounds like its coming from the bell housing or throwout bearing. I just rebuilt my transmission but the clink clink has been there from before. It feels like something is loose but i have no problems shifting or slipping. the car has 94k miles in it. What can it be? How much does it cost to get it checked at the dealership?

 

Have you checked your engine and transmission mounts? Sound like the rear engine mount to me and I would also check the front mount as well thats by the crossmember.
