has anyone stripped the hood?

Lets face it we all know our hood is heavy as hell has anyone stripped it down? Cut some of the metal off and make it lighter 38lbs is pretty damn heavy for a hood id like to know so i could maybe do it. If no ones done it id like to know where to start thanks guys.

I was thinking about doing it to the hood of my green RA at some point.

Nick trimmed out some of the braces and made a vent in a hood. He has a thread on it somewhere.

I was planning to just look at the braces on the underside of the hood and remove whatever I felt I could do without. Ive seen some hoods on Eclipses where they removed everything but the outer frame. But obviously that leaves you with just the skin and not a lot of structure. Just take a peek, see how much your willing to do without, and get to cutting. You could maybe even drill some holes in the frame to lose a tiny bit at a time.

Thats true. I dont want to loose alot of structural support. But damn 38 pounds is alot for a hood. I wonder if youll even feel the difference.

going from OEM to CF, I didn't notice anything by driving the car...only by lifting the hood, which is oddly effortless...
