who got rattles???
My car is 100% stock - it just seems to "loosen up" after about a year of ownership...the main problem is finding where they come from - fixing them is usually as easy as repositioning or tightening/fastening something..
I have 2 rattles/squeaks. The plastic panels on the front 2 doors that cover the window/lock switches squeaks when the stereo is loud, I can push down on the covers and they stop squeaking. I also get a very slight rattle from the dash somewhere when I hit bumps/rough road etc. What is this cap everyone is talking about?
my ES has some rattles... but i notice even the slightest of noises or vibrations, so i probably make it seem worse than it is. Every time I get in someone else's car for a while, and then get back in mine ... it seems sooooo much higher quality and smoother! So I guess it can't be that bad.
I got my RA back in the spring, and the only rattle I've noticed so far isn't even quite a rattle, just a vibration that sometimes happens when the stereo's turned up loud. It seems to be coming from one of the front pillars. I'm not too worried about it, since when the stereo's up that loud I can barely notice the vibration anyways
I just got a metal sounding rattle that sounds like its coming from inside the dash/engine. When I hit about 3000 rpms you can really hear it. It happened suddenly 2 days ago. I just hit 15K miles on my car. I'm going to try to take it to the dealer this weekend. My driver's side seat adjustment knob keeps falling off. I'm going to make them reglue it as well.
Mine is Brand new.. A month old with 2180 miles on it and I have absolutely NO Rattles or Clicks! If I bought it and it Clicked.. I would have taken it right back.I dont play games with the Dealership. They know I am a tech and I work on cars so they cant BS me.I work at a nother Dealership so i am often to tired to work on my own car,I take it to the dealership to get maintained and fixed this way if they mess it up they can buy me a new one.Ya just gotta know how to talk to the service guys.Sorry about your noise problems.I dont have any yet it seems to be a common thing.. Who knows.
The Female way!!
I am a Girl and I am cute, that usually works.. lol. NAh seriously tho,Heres some helpful hints:
1.Do Reaserch on your Dealership. Then if they arent good,Find the best one you can in your area.
2.Take the tech for the test drive before work is done to point out the noise/problem.If its a normal thing them they will let you know while you are there in the car.
3.Dont be afraid to get annoyed tones.Dealerships hate having unsatisfied cutomers. They think you wont buy another car from thier dealership adn you will give them a bad rep. They know you have friends and your friends have friends,Etc.(People like to talk)
4.It helps when you know a bit about cars and what "Could" be wrong. If you work on cars they feel intimidated because then they cant mess your car up or give you any BS.
5.Learn the Warranty laws for your area. Here in the states,They cant Void your warranty unless the can prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that what they want to void your warranty over is exactly what caused it to break.(IE.. You have an intake and the MAF sensor went bad ,They can Charge you for that part and labor IF and only IF they can prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that it Caused the MAF sensor to go bad).
6.Ask quetions even for Dumb stuff ( Oil Changes,General maintenance,),Ask the tech who worked on your car what the part was, where it was,and what was wrong or bad and what needs to be done next and why.You can learn alot. And they can learn from you if you have some knowledge.
Techs for the most part are cool. They dont mind answering questions and swapping tips and knowledge every now and then.Service writers Just give the techs RO's. If you have a good tech working on your car,Ask the Service writer to make sure that specific tech is the only onwe to work on your car. They will do anything to keep you coming back to their dealership and keep a good rep. This being said,These tips come from someone on the inside.I woork in a Dealership.I know what goes on behind the Doors and in the Garage. If someone complains abnout their car not being fixed, the Tech who worked on it will never hear the end of it from the service manager.

BTW, i have a sqeak in the shifter, when I go from 1st to 2nd. It's like the shifter is rubbing against something when I put pressure on it or pull it towards me, (left).
