Most of us have that very same rattle.

Quite a while ago, there was a post about it. Something about a loose valve cap under the hood or something? I can't find it, so I'm not sure about it. To get rid of it, the dash would probably have to be taken apart, and re-set....maybe with extra insulation (dynamat, perhaps?)

But it is a known issue....I'm just going to have it taken care of during my 15K maintenance.

haha i think it was me who posted the solution a while back. Yes it sounds like its coming from the right front side by the dashboard, but its really a loose cap inside your hood. I took it to the dealer they found it, just took them few hours 8- )

i have that rattle too on the right side. Are you sure it's just a loose cap?

I'm sure some of the sound is coming from this cap, but not all of it.

If you push down on the right side of the dash near the airbag, you will hear a creaking noise. It looks like the dash wasn't set perfectly......

The only problem is, I don't know how to fix that. And I'm not sure I trust Mitsu to take the dash apart and possibly create more rattling!!!

My car rattles as well. I took it in a week after I picked-up the car and they said it was the air compressor. They replaced it and the car still rattles. It only makes the sound during rough idle or with the AC on. Also, if I have the car off and hit the steering wheel I can reproduce the sound so I know it is something loose in the dash.

no, my ra doesn't make rattles from the a/c, it's when i hit small bumps, and when the road are rough.

in my car it is the panel covering the (A?) pillar, on both side of the car. should be a simple fix, all i do is touch it and it usually stops for a while.

i went to dealer because we thought it was comming from the a pillar the the right, we remove the a pillar and put some foam tape between the dash and the pillar, and it doesn't make a difference. but i know it's coming around there.
