Not to mention it's relatively cheap, and easy to do...

i havent heard of anyone having long term success using nitro on a RA. gets back to the thin block thing. the pistons and rods are pretty weak too. A 25 or maybe even a 50 shot may not hurt a few times, but I would keep it limited unless you are feeling lucky. imho, not worth it.

I have never been a big fan NOS. It's too easy. not much skill involved and long term use does do damage

So the 3 RRM mods would give you 30HP
and then the headers on here would give you about another 15hp
carbon fiber hood and lightening of the body in various ways could shed 100+ lbs
a safe and easy addition of NOS, around a 30 shot would probably be safe to the engine so add around 25hp for that
header-back exhaust and a larger cat-converter should be good for 10HP
Nitto555 tires, and lighter wheels...good for less rotational mass
lowering springs...make it stick to the road better!

80hp, lighter than stock, better handling than stock, and would easily beat a WRX

My friends WRX wagon with a catback and K&N feels similar in speed to my girls Ralliart, my opinion is that a WRX is not that fast...so a few mods should be all you need.

someone on another thread was speculating a 5% gain to the wheels with the flywheel. if that is true, then on top of the first three mods we are up to 172 hp and if you really think a 4-1 header will give an additional 15 thats 187. so we are getting close. of course I have no idea if it will realy be that simple. but if it is that give us 15.2 lbs/hp compared to the WRX's 15.99 lbs/hp

thats about 50 hp to the wheels for under $2000. let me know if you think that sounds right.

I just took what I have seen on here and threw them all together, of course I would expect a 10-20% variance either way, although 200HP to the wheels shouldn't be that hard to accomplish with all of these modifications. If you disagree tell me why!

A lighter flywheel helps for lower gears, and take-off...then once it is already spinning the gain is less to measure, although somewhere I read every lb off the crank is good for 2HP, so that would give you an extra 20hp(unsure if it is WHP), although this would be 20hp that would be available early in the powerband which is where I would see the RA needs the most help.

Hey don't forget about the LSD from RRM. You don't want to just to burn rubber right. That would greatly help in your launching.

I don't believe that the lightend flywheel will add ANY horsepower. What I've been told what it does is it alters the drivetrain loss. So for example....if the stock drivetrain loss is 20% (just say) then the flywheel conversion would take that down to 15%.

So in actuallity it free's up HP rather then adding.
