I just want to be faster then a WRX

Here's the line up.

Subaru Impresa WRX 227 hp @ 15% loss is 192.95 hp @ wheels & 3085 lbs
ratio 15.99 lbs/hp

Mitsubishi Ralliart 162 hp @ 15% loss is 137.7 hp @ wheels & 2843 lbs
ratio 20.64 lbs/hp

Ralliart W/ RRM piggiback, CAI, & axle back
164 hp to wheels & 2843 lbs
ratio 17.34 lbs/hp

I want my car to appear stock and and I don't want to butcher the interior or add a turbo. I know my number are not hard science or even tacking into mind track performance but what are your opinions on how to make the ralliart faster then the WRX.

I just found out that the WRX runs the 1/4 in 14.4 stock, and 0-60 in 5.7

yeah, i agree with ralliart86, your gonna need more then just the three mods to run a N/A car against the turbo'd WRX, you could, think about a testpipe, throttle body, headers, maybe some carbon fiber parts, down pipe, basically all the bolt-on's you can find, maybe even taking out your spare tire out could help a bit, i dont know how much they wiegh but i bet id help just about the same amount as a carbon fiber hood/trunk, damn those cars would be nothing with out the turbos though, i drove the RS version, and it sucks, and just outta curiosity, why no turbo? my reasoning is price, but im just curious why you dont want one.

I know I'll need more then those 3 mods. I just posted that because RRM has published the dyno results of these three mods and that is the logical place to start. I was also thinking that the RRM flywheel would help. hopfully a little more power to the wheels and 10 lbs off the car.

you're going to hit the ceiling awfully fast if you intend to keep it NA.

I mean, the reason the WRX has the power is its boost. The only way you could defeat him and keep it NA is if you had more displacement...and that isn't going to happen.

My recommendation is to get every single NA performance mod from RRM, and see how that works. But for our smaller motors, boost is the key.

The STi has 2.5L and the evo has 2.0L. Its pretty well accepted that the Evo is faster, yet it has less displacement. While more displacement would really rock, i think thats just an easy way out. We prob cant get much more diplacement anyway. The walls on our block all already relativly thin. Check out the thread about getting the NA RA to do a 13sec 1/4. Good plans in there. a borred throttle body would help. Think of grabbing the headers, too. If you dont mind being illegal in CA, check out the downpipe. But first, dont forget suspension!! Get one of engrboy's tie bars for $30. All the power in the world wont do you any good if you cant direct it!

I agree insomniac, with the coin you would spend on making it as fast as a WRX he probably could buy one.

AdamRA has it right. I wanted an evo but that wasn't gonna happen. so then I wanted a WRX, which I could have gotten used but I wanted a new car so that left me with either a Nissan spec-v or a Ralliart. Ralliart seemes a bit nicer and throw in 100k waranty and I was sold. so the question is how fast can I go?
