maybe in the lower gears, but once the GTS hits the high end of its VVT-i, it's over. Same thing with the RSX-s. RA's have shorter gears and a better torque spread in the lows, but we just can't generate the same high end power that the GTS or Type-S has. Guess it's just a trade-off.

Can't beat 'em? Boost it!

2.5RS will lose to RA because of Subaru's crappy tranny that loses all the power. Good thing is that RA's have better tranny therefore, less powerloss. Plus RA's got Mivec while RS gets nothing

Jesse, your horribly missinformed about the Subaru tranny! Yes they have a higher drivetrain loss then the RA but you have to realize that instead of putting 160hp down to 2 wheels they are putting it down to 4 wheels. So yes, they are not goin' to have the same WHP numbers. However, they'll own you in corners and in a launch.

sport compact car said that the ralliart puts down157 hp and 155lb-ft to the wheels but the ralliart has bad tires. in the quarter-mile it did 15.5.

Every dyno is different. I would think an appropriate average would be 145 whp on the RA.

How do you figure that?? A turbo will affect your gas mileage. A turbo works by compressing the air in the intake charge. Since it is a MASS flow sensor and not a volumetric flow sensor when you compress something the mass goes up which means you will need more gas. If you try to run a turbo with a significant amount of boost without increasing the amout of fuel you are putting in to it you will run really lean and then you can kiss your engine good bye. Why would you think that the evo gas mileage is worse than the RAs when the RA has a 2.4L and the evo runs a 2.0L? It is mostly from the turbo.

An RA will waste a base RSX, that I know for a fact... as for a Type S it will probably beat it in the beginning, but that Honda engine will just fly in the end.

Motortrend also says that an RA is faster than an SVT Focus, Spec V, and a 2.5 RS.

Mazdaspeed protege is faster to 60 becouse it reaches it in second gear thus you only shift once but after browsing the protege forum i found that quarter mile times are mostly in the lower 15's (stock) at 89 to 92 mph range. The numbers suggest that RA and protege are similar when it comes to performance.

With stock suspensions, the Mazda is quicker around a track. Nothing rims, tires, and rear sway bar can't cure. Seems Mazdaspeed is a little more thorough than Ralliart when they do a car. I thought the Ralliart had more potential and it was a lot cheaper and easier to get at the time.

Oh, and the Protege is faster also because it has ZOOM - ZOOM. Ha

Yeah speed would be close but the Mazdaspeed would detroy the Ralliart on a road course or through a salom.

The Mazda has 17"s and a totally serious, dedicated performance suspension.
I see the problem with this as it could have too stiff a ride and not take kindly to anything but great somoot pavement.

Where the Ralliart does not have as serious suspension, it is probably suited to better daily driving. Which is what most cars do most of the time anyhow.

Plus the Protege is a generation behind the RA

Well with all this talk of who's car is faster and who can beat who, in the end it dosen't really matter, as long as you enjoy your Ralliart, i know i do! and with the slight mods that i have done so far really help make it a ground pounder, such as set of Eibach progressive spring kit, aem cold air intake HKS axle back exhaust, piggy back chip, and the best of all a 50shot of NOS to kill those little civic guys, on the dyno the RA does 235hp with nitrous!.........oh there nothing like the smell of burnt rubber in the morning....
