Quote: i was pretty bored today soo i went to pepboys to see if they had anything worth buying as far as a bulb for the license plate..and by the way its a 194 bulb just like the parking light bulb in the headlights..well i didnt find anything but instead i went home, took out a red sharpe and colored the bulbs and heres what i got...
Running anything other than white (like you're supposed to) on your license plate is a sure reason for cops to pull you over in Ohio. Back when I was 17 I put blue lights in for my license plate lights and got harrassed by a cop for 15min. on the rules of proper lighting on your vehicle.

I have the hyperwhite bulbs in place on my car and it looks great. This is also because I replaced all of my bulbs with LED's. The look is consistent throughout. Don't go red or green or blue because then you will be a target.

The red lp lights actually don't look too bad. It just seems like cops would be all over that like flies on **** though!

i kinda toned it down a lil after i took the pics...i rubbed off the red marker on the tip of the lights so theres just a hint of red mixed in with the white light...not too red now

whats the point of having the license plate lights on anyways? if a cop was behind u at night, his dam headlights will be shining on the back of your car, so it makes it very visible. other than that, it's still dam hard to see from a far distance the numbers on the plate at night

just a little update...i went to get something out of my trunk last night and i noticed that the color of the light shining wasnt red anymore. i took out the bulb and it looks like the heat may have dissipated the red sharpie because its normal color again. SO if you definately wanted to change the color youd have to get different colored bulbs

Yea i decided to go ahead and light up pretty much everything i could with the blue lights so looks like im getting pulled over pretty soon...

*license plates*

*dome lights*

*Front Parking lights*

*Side Markers*

*Rear blinkers*

================================================== ========

I couldnt find a blue bulb for the rear blinkers so i bought some clear ones and painted a light coat of blue paint on it...turned out it works....
im posting a video later on of me pressing the lock button

Well it is illegal to change the color of the light that illuminates your LP. changing the colors of any of your lights is illegal. and yes, of course, having a rear LP light is required in all states. I know in Washington its illegal to have em: http://www.wsp.wa.gov/traveler/cvd/cvdfaq.htm
But then again modification to your exhaust system is illegal in any way... it all depends if the cop is too lazy to do the paper work or just being a real ***.. In which I dont think they are, considering YOU are the one breaking the law -lol- they are just doing their job. well anyways I just leave the lights how they are and that is my .02
