Putting back the rear license plate and license lights.
Hey guys,
I removed my Kenstyle rear bumper today and put back my stock one. THAT WAS SUCH A BIATCH TO PUT BACK ON! Those tiny grommets are so dumb, dang you mitsu!
Anyways, a body shop put in the kenstyle rear bumper and in the process removed the rear license plate lights. I drove around with my kenstyle bumper w/ no license plate lights the whole time, all good. When I had the bumper off I noticed I had no idea how to mount the lights back on
. I was in a rush so I put the stock bumper back on w/ no license plate lights again.
Also, i was trying to mount the license plate on and couldn't! I know, it shoudl be simple, but actually...I've lost the components to mount it. There's 4 holes w/o the license plate on...top two are rectangler, the bottom are circle. To mount it back in, it has to be the top holes that are rectangler. Can someone help me on this too...maybe remove their license plate to show me how it looks like. I hope this makes sense.

I had to remount my front license plate b/c it fell off. I had to go to the Mitsubishi dealer and get the OEM round rubber nuts, and then re-thread a 10-32 bolt ---> 6 x 1mm. That's the only thing I would suggest. Go back to your dealership and get the right items.
that's what sux about putting stock **** back on the car. The old crap that held it together you either lost or trashed. I made a temporary solution for it in the meantime till i figure out what to do. I ziptied the license plate to the holes. Don't look bad at all. Besides...bolts at Mitsu costs about 2 dollars on avg. I need this grommets that I have to replace...and I need 10 of them. Do the math...that's too much for stupid plastic things.
gotcha, yeah, my best guess is to get those little rubber things off mitsu. my rear light hasn't even worked since i bought the car and mitsu claims that i kicked it an won't fix it. i never failed inspection though (even though i should have).
so, waht are you doing with your ks rear bumper?
there was a thread on here in us lancer general i think about someone looking for a rear bumper.
i would love a ks rear bumper but i have no more money to spend. i also have the accolade extreme kit and the rear bumper on that isn't that great. i'd love something lower but got no cash. good luck with getting that 5**** back on.

wingnut - if you want my bumper, i'm getting rid of it for dirt cheap. If you're cool with guys who do fiberglass, it can be fixed for real cheap.
ow.. i saw pick a fros kenstlye bumper.. its not that bad..its just that he had a crappy paintjob.. lol.. so paint is chipping.. but i dont think the fiberglass it self has damage.. if there is..i havent seen it.. or its very minimal.. if u want more info.. the bumper is at my friends shop.. ill go check for "damages" but as far as i know.. i havent seen like cracks, holes, etc. ill double check thou..hehhe.. peace!
I'm not really interested in getting the rear bumper anymore, sorry Fro. I decided to go the Evo route but keep my car for now for winter driving. i should be able to get an evo by November.
OKAY. ISSUE RESOLVED.
I didn't have to go to Mitsubishi to get those little plastic grommets that holds in the screws holding the licensce plate. You can buy those at Autozone, for like $1.99 including the screws. So that fixes that problem.

Did you fix the licence plate lights? When I did my body kit on my old car, I just bought some hyper white LED bolt lights and angled 4 of them at the licence plate. 2 from the top, 2 from the sides. Lit that thing up like a Christmas tree. =D!!!
edit: for the LED bolt lights, just use the stock wiring that is provided for the original lights. You might have to extend the wiring, depending how long it is. I doubt you'll have to extend it for that short ken style rear though. I did an eclipse conversion on my talon, which made the lights about 2 feet away from where they were originally. =/
