have to have my RA painted

I wash washing my car today and noticed tiny specks of rust in my silver paint. i took it to the dealer they are going to paint it but i have to drive a rental until then. it sucks but atleast its under warranty. They were not all that bad it looked like fine grade pepper on my car and it probably would get worse after time. i just could not believe it would have this kind of wear after 6 months.

(I thought I had rust too, but I simply took a decent paint cleaner and buffed it out on the whole car...I imagine a boat ride overseas followed by sitting at a dealer lot leaves it with many undesired specks in the paint).

Do you know if the dealer is going to re-paint, or just buff it out!?

no this is actually rust i tried a buffer and it did nothing. The dealer is actually sending it to be painted. i looked and used rubbing compound and tried to buff them out and then when i scratched on one little tiny spot it turned into orange powder, just like rust, I have owned a '70 vw bug and know what rust is. they are going to give me a loaner car and repaint it completely.

Wow... that's pretty odd, that it would be rusting like that after just 6 months...!!!
Did they say anything that might have led to this, or a defect that may have caused this?!

they are very very small and i had to look real close and point them out to the dealer. but i am sure if it was left alone it would be real bad.

You know I've noticed that on my car also. It gothit by some rocks back in Feb when some idiot had a case of road rage and passed me illegally on the left and throwing rocks all over my car. I haven't had it repainted yet but where it's chipped isn't rusting yet where there isn't any chips it is. I also have some rust where the rubber stopper in the trunk sits. I have to take it in when I wash it and have them look at it. My car is only 10 month's old so the paint should be covered under warranty, I also tried to buff it out but that didn't work.

The cars come with a rust warranty. It might vary, but mine is for 7 years. 10 months doesn't sound all that close to 7 years, but might just be me.

I just went and showed thwm the problem the funny thing is it is only on certain sections of the car the rear bumper the roof and the molding over the doors. This was not from things hitting my car though it is actually comming from the inside of the paint itself. I will take a picture during the day and post it.

it is in the paint itself. The paint is metallic not the bumper. All metals rust or tarnish in one way or another. The paint has metal in it therefore that is what is rusting. I tried to take pics but my digi sux so bad that it would even show the specks. it just kept reflecting pics of me taking the pic on the car. It is really sunny out and I will probably try later and see if I can use different light. The fact of the matter is in the paint itself, it must have just been a bad batch of paint.
