i just got my tein basic coilovers in today and i'm probably going to install them this weekend. for those who have them how long did it take, i know its pretty simple i had to install a new strut when i had my focus, so it shouldnt be that hard. i searched for DIY but found nothing. can anyone point me in the right direction??
The fronts are pretty straightforward.
Jack the car up, support on jackstands.
Remove both front wheels.
Remove both bolts that hold the strut to the knuckle.
Remove the nut that holds the brake line to the strut.
Remove all three nuts that hold the top of the strut to the car body.
Remove strut.
Rears are a little more difficult.
Remove trunk liner on both sides, and sub if installed.
Jack car up, support on jackstands.
Remove both rear wheels.
Disconnect rear sway bar.
Remove bolt that connects trailing arm to control arm.
Remove bolt that connects rear strut to control arm.
Remove both nuts that hold top of strut to car body.
Push control arm down until you can remove strut assembly.
Assembly is reverse of disassembly for front and rear.
If need be, I can send you links to manual pages describing this stuff. PM if you want them.

I don't know if the Teins come with the top part of the strut, which bolts to the car..? If they don't, you'll have to remove that piece from your stock struts and move it over. For that, you'll need a spring compressor and an impact wrench.
If they come complete, no problems. All you'll need is regular hand tools.

I'm in the wrong business. 
I put in my own springs. While I spent about the same money, I got to keep the tools when it was done. My $150 impact wrench has come in handy a few times since then.
no they dont come complete so i'll definately have to get a spring compressor and somehow an impact wrench..i'm a little angry that its not complete i didnt want to have to use a spring compressor.

I went out and bout a spring compressor. I work at ORIELLY AUTO PARTS and we do rent the compressor for the springs. i dont know if you have one off ours stores around you but if you do when you return the tool you get all your money back. just a thought. No we dont rent out the impact though, i used a friends impact lol. Ok a little off topic here but are the TIEN shocks rebuildable or do you need to buy another set when they go out. Never owned that brand and am going to get some for my car. Thanks in advance for any info.

If you are going to do all the work yourself and don't want to get these tools then just take your struts out and bring them with your coilovers to your local shop. They should take apart your stock strut and switch whatever parts are needed from them to your coilovers. They should only charge about $20 to $30 to do that. Me and my buddy did that with his Eclipse and they did it for free. I would check that out before you spend money on tools you don't think you will use again.

that is what i was thinking about doing but i dont know who to take them too, i know pep boys will do it but there isnt one around here. and as for the question about if they are replaceable, i'm not sure i think you'll have to buy a whole new shock cause its adjustable. not sure if that answered your question or not...back to the impact wrench an electric one should work just fine right????
As far as rebuilding the Tein, I thought they came with a pretty long warranty. They should for that price anyway.
