Canadian pricing?

Anyone have any info on pricing in Canada? The US-Canada pattern is fairly consistent across the Lancer and Evo lines, but it would be nice to have an actual price.

My best guess, based on the Lancer DE & GTS models, and the Evo X GSR and MR, is

Lancer Ralliart (base): MSRP $32,498 (= $33,993 with the 'delivery' charges)
Lancer Ralliart (Premium): MSRP $36,498 (= $37,993 with the 'delivery' charges)

That's based on a straight-line fit, and seems to be good as an estimate to within about $500 -- with the Canadian dollar down recently, it's quite possible the above prices will be $500 higher (so basically $33k and $37k before delivery), especially since Mitsubishi seems to prefer prices ending in 998.

i say $35K base. premium will easily get you into $40K. and expect dealer markups for another 1K-3K. this is best case scenario in my eyes.

So you expect a fully loaded Ralliart to come in at the same price as an EVO X GSR in Canada? That's just not going to happen. It will come in at slightly higher than a WRX but not much more and options are up in the air since Canada seems to get less options than US models. Probably no HID's or NAV for Canadian Ralliarts much like the EVO X GSR.

you guys in calgary get it easy apparently. some dealers just outside of toronto (where i live) are still charging $42K for the gsr and around $48K for the mr.

They'll probably price it maybe $2500 lower than the Evo GSR. I don't see Mitsubishi Canada doing us any huge favours considering the horrible pricing they did for us already.

That's not fair -- Mitsubishi Canada has consistently been better than almost all of the auto manufacturers at staying close to the US prices -- their margins are better than everyone from Subaru to Toyota on cars such as the Lancer (Mitsubishi is generally below 20% markup over US prices -- if you include currency conversion -- where others seem to enjoy the 30-40% price-gouging range a lot more).

You can't expect Mitsubishi to set Canadian prices completely out of whack with the rest of the industry.

I was at that showroom last weekend and as soon as I sat inside that car a flurry of sales associates gathered around me. I especially liked the Asian dude who said "you have perfect girlfriend, now let me give you perfect car. i will make deal perfect for you." I told him a couple hour test-drive would be perfect.

As for the pricing. You're better off going through a little bit of hassle and just getting an Evo from across the border if you're gonna dish out that much $$$ for the new RA. Unless of course you like the RA name that much.

Do Mitsubishi dealers in the US even sell new cars to Canadians? -- I'm buying in Canada, but I thought that with Mitsubishi the problem was the dealers more than the warranty... in other words more like Toyota (no new car sales by US dealers to Canadians, but warranty coverage is no problem) than like Nissan (buy whatever you want, but don't expect any warranty coverage in Canada).

Anyway, the margins for Mitsubishi's cars are barely enough to justify cross-border hassles, except for the Evo X, and personally I want the TC-SST transmission in a Ralliart (premium model Lancer), not an old-style manual in an Evo X GSR (base model Evo X). They are not comparable, even if the prices are similar.

Depends how hard you go on your car. I think if you treat your car well, the savings you'll get from the price differential will still be more than any warranty work you'd have done (unless of course you get stuck with a lemon from the lot).

That's why you should just get the Evo X MR. You get the TC-SST and a way better car overall than the RA (my opinion). I've been for a ride in the MR and, dude, trust me, you would not regret it. Obviously we have yet to see how the new RA drives but I don't think it will be better than the Evo. As for selling to Canadians, I haven't heard any issues.

The premium on an Evo X (or any other Lancer) is almost exactly 20%, which means that you save about $10k by importing a loaded Evo X MR. That means it's still more expensive than a loaded Ralliart bought in Canada, and that doesn't even account for the expense and extreme inconvenience of importing your own car.

Personally, I just want a premium Ralliart, not an Evo X MR, and the price difference isn't enough to justify the enormous waste of my time. Also remember that you'll be paying a lot more to keep an Evo X running, unless you foolishly expect gas to get cheaper
