Ralli Art Suggestion...
Uh....according to this review http://www.roadandtrack.com/article....rticle_id=7103 the Mazdaspeed3 came in last place behind the Ralliart, WRX and Cobalt SS (in that order). Here's my take on it, test drive all four vehicles plus any others you can think of (GTI comes to mind) and decide which one feels right for you. Funnily enough the fastest car might not the best for you just like the cheapest car might not be the best for you. Different people have different driving habits, different needs and different tastes thus the same car will not feel right for everyone.
Well they would be silly to do that since it already hard enough to tell the 2 apart... all consumers would look at is the price ... and those who payed more would not get the prestige of looking a bit better...

The point here is that Mazdaspeed 3 IS Mazda's EVO, they don't have anything else out there. The Ralliart is not Mitsubishi's primary performance car here, and they're never going to move it into a position that would further hurt the EVOs current sales. Hopping into an EVO for $6k more isn't a small jump either.
Also as I said, AWD makes a price different, we're talking about a sophisticated AWD system vs a FWD car, it's not going to match up the same price wise.

You're comparing the price of a base GSR to the price of a loaded Ralliart. There is a $6,000 difference in base MSRP, and the base car includes all available performance features in both instances.
You either think I'm too dumb to know that, or you've missed my point. It's unreasonable to say "there's $4,000 between a Ralliart and GSR" when you've added vent visors, wheel locks, and the aluminum fuel door to the Ralliart, and the GSR is a no-options example.
A base RA and a base GSR are $6,000 apart. A loaded RA (Recaros + navi, but no accessory items) and a loaded GSR (SSS + navi + aero) are over $8,000 apart, or $6,000 apart without the aero.

I'd think the new 5-spd 265 hp wrx is a better value (bear in mind I place zero value to the SST)- for some the RA is neat, but the base GSR is selling at or below $30k so the msrp is irrelevant. If (rather when) the RA is discounted similarly, then the argument on price becomes valid again. I supose some people need features over performance...I find it hard to believe that performance would take a back seat to navigation and the like, but that's just me.
Everybody has different expectations. I'd rather have a lancer GTS over a RA just to save money and get the better economy. Of course I already have an evo x so I really couldn't imagine having to pay a lot just to get fair mileage at best and a lot less performance. Of course that is hindsight and people are trying to tell you.

Except that it's not. Presumably, the Ralliart will also sell below MSRP with time. You may recall that mere months ago, there were multi-thousand-dollar "market adjustments" on the GSR. Also, you're looking at '08 GSR pricing. I expect we may see a jump in '09 Evo pricing.
