Why is this thing so expensive?
Driving this thing was amazing, and the Recaro seats I couldn't resist getting them. The way the seats grabbed my *** telling me it wants me as I sat in them. I'm ordering the WW with Recaros tomorrow.
That's misleading as it is 08 STI inventory that Subaru was clearing out and very few were actually going for $28K. Try getting an 09 for that price.
I think they suck and I am 190. Climbing over the hip bolster and the tight back squeeze may be fine if you are 25 or younger, but if you are over 30 or 35 I doubt those seats are going to feel good after 2-3 hours of driving. I even think the stock seats suck in the RA. They hit in all the wrong places.
Like you said -- anywhere it snows, even a few days a year, none of the other cars on your list are worth much. The WRX and the Ralliart are both fine in snow, and since most people find the Subaru butt-ugly, even in its 2009 model, that leaves the Ralliart and only the Ralliart.
Of course, if you live where it snows and have more than one car, then anything goes. Some of us prefer to sink our money into one car.
As for used cars, that's not a good idea anywhere they use salt, unless you enjoy the thought of ending up with a crappy rust-bucket -- if you buy a car new and take proper care of it, then rust isn't generally a problem.

yeah awd is great in the winter, though i've never had any problems with any of my fwd cars in the winter. good tires> snow and ice.
i live in minnesota, plenty of snow and salt. all my cars have been used. no rust on any of them, even my 97 diamante. rust isn't caused by salt it's caused by not taking care of your vehicle. oh yeah i park outside as well.

In the past decade and a half, I've been in two major single-vehicle accidents caused by loss of traction on ice, both in FWD cars with all-seasons. Neither accident was caused directly by loss of traction -- both were the result of fishtailing that simply wouldn't have happened with AWD; I'm not sure that snow tires would have helped much on ice.
I drive a "low end" BMW (cause i cant afford an X-MR) and though it is not a performance car, it is built waaayy better than 95% of mitsus... That is not magic at all its a choice BMW made which is why their brand is respected. I want mitsu to make the same choice and so do you.
