Just doing tires on the stock wheels would be your best option. Then you can buy a really nice summer wheel combo. Then again, your in Texas. You can just use the stock ones and save up for a nice set of wheels.

I go with the advice of saving up for a full set of rims and tires. Get at least some 18x8 rims and then 245 wide tires, you'll be happier with both the looks and the grip. A nice set of Rotas with some Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star-Spec tires would run you around $1500. It will be a night and day difference in handling and even braking.

Then save up for a set of coilovers, and sway bars, and suddenly you have a serious corner-carving machine. =]

Maybe you should just slow down since I doubt it's the tires.

Yeah I would have to agree with that.

This guy has already wrecked his RA. You would think it would teach someone a lesson and maybe they would slow down but I guess some people don't learn until they kill someone.

You didn't buy a race car and public roads aren't race tracks.

You can typically find like new X GSR wheels & stock tires for around $500. Just an option to throw out there... You'll have money left over for powdercoating them too, if you want

sorry if someone mentioned this, I didn't read through the whole thread...

The tires are not that bad, you just need to slow down or learn how to drive better.

No kidding, nothing short of full-blown slicks will allow you to do things like that.
