Its happened to me. Tried to start and it just acted like it was out of fuel or there was no spark. Tried again and after maybe 5 or 6 turnovers it fired up. You are not alone.

Mine does this occasionally as well. Haven't been able to link it to anything specific. Weather here when it's happened has been anywhere from 20s-60s F.

Edit: Usually giving it a little throttle when it's struggling will allow it to fire right up.

I always hate threads where only the people with problems post (makes it impossible to tell just how rare the issue is), so here goes my experience -- at over 3000 miles, my car has never failed to start. When I pushed it to the limits for cold, it did start extremely rough (-34 degC, or -29 degF), but it started. I can't for a moment imagine that the problems outlined here are general issues related to cold.

The battery explanation sounds most likely -- maybe Mitsubishi's quality control was flawed -- ever product line has a few issues, and batteries aren't an easily controlled component.

I have had this happen to me ONCE. It happend about a month after I picked up the car in October. After about 4 cranks I let it sit for a few minutes and tried again, it started. I am at 5,000 Kms right now and I have never had this problem again ( thankfully) but it still sound disturbing that everyone has had this happen at leat once. My wife will be using the car this spring with out little one and she has a good distance to drive ( ) I would not want this to happen to her. That would make me a little concerned.

I've had this issue, when its below 0 i was told to hold the key in ACC untill the lights on the dash go off then crank it over. When doing that i haven't had one issue yet.

This happened to me 3 times....twice when the temp was around 15F and once it was above freezing....it just didn't start the first time I cranked the key and it felt like a dead battery....
