Window Tint

I found a tinting place that I'm going to check out. I almost need to get my windows tinted - I keep my car outside and with the black interior it heats up like an oven in sunny weather (even if its cold outside). I know tints are pretty cheap to install and easy to remove if needed, as far as aesthetic mods go at least. I know about the Lancer's felt problems and all that stuff so I'll mention it to the shop.

However, my state has a maximum of 30% tint (so that's 70% visibility) on the side windows, no tint on the front allowed, and no limit on the back. I'm not sure how I should do it if I get it done, maybe do 30% all around (except the front, of course).

Does anyone have any pictures of what a 30% tint looks like? I tried searching but I can't find any.

There have been a couple other threads about tint, somewhere around here. Use the search function and narrow it by "tint" in the 2009 RA General forums, should lead you to them. Else, you can check in the pics thread here, **Post your Pic's of your RA**

EDIT: ok I did a quick search - couldn't find anything.

Is that really 30% tint? The way tinting percents work is counterintuitive, I can't tell if 30% is the visibility level or the tint darkness. It basically means 30% of light passes through, right?

In that case I mean 70% tint

I'm gonna do 15% all around (cept front) had it in my old car it was definitely worth it. Idk what NY level is, didn't care. Make sure the shop you go to guarantees its work, one i went to guaranteed mine for life with no turning purple, no bubbling and/or peeling.

yeah i guess the lancers are missing the felt part on the inside and when you tint the windows the insides of the door where the window goes down scratch the tint (i think) im not really sure i just know some people have had some problems. i think you may have to install felt strips on the inside where the window goes down
