How Do You Remove Gum

hey guys,

well after work i was walking to my car and i didn't realize i stepped in gum ..... and i tracked it into the car. luckily it was my non-pedal food, so it is on that footrest thing on the left side. i tried removing it with tissue, a damp tissue, my foot (not a good idea), but it's the really sticky kind.

any tips on how to get it out, that won't damage the plastic (by staining it, or making it smell funny, or pre-mature fading)? what will goo-gone do to it, or does rubbing it with baby oil do much?

thanks for your time,
shawniebe

Spray WD-40 on it and it should wipe off.

you can always use a little bit of olive oil. Used to work for me.

Goo-gone is worth a try. It smells nice & citrusy & removes many sticky things well (I haven't personally tried it on gum though).

only the citrus-scented one smells like that. It should work though. It might smell for a bit (get you nice and high) but will eventually air out.

Just use a chunk of ice from the freezer! My girlfriend has proven me wrong time after time with the removal of gum with ice. Takes a few minutes to work it out ( i've only watched the process ) but it works wonders.

I've had good luck with getting gum off of things by freezing it with ice.

I dot gum on my carpet once and I damped a part of a cloth with gasoline and just rubbed it came off pretty easy and no smell since it wasn't soaked. Worth a try.
