Fast Key Issues
Hey,
So when I have something plugged into the power source in the center counsel the Fast Key system does not work. Also the range on the keyless entry is very poor, I need to touch the car in order the unlock the doors sometimes. But when I remove the iPod or GPS charger from the power source everything works fine.
Has anyone else had this issue?
Thank You,
Chris.

Everything on my car currently is stock. When I took it in I only had 2K miles on it, when the dealer called Mitsu they said all of my chargers were emitting a signal to cancel out the keyless entry and Fast key system.
I feel like taking it to another dealer. But they said other people are having the same problem and it might be fixed. I think you are right about the system be overloaded there is no other explanation. For the system to fail using a iPod charger would just overall be bad.
Any other ideas?

Oh I know, I am thinking about driving to another state and having it checked out. But can someone try this on their car. Look for poor signal with your FAST key and keyless entry. I find the worst signal to be on the passenger side of the car, just please try and post your results.
Thank you
Thank you
Thanks for the fast post
Did you by any chance try it with a car charger for a phone or iPod device in the middle of the car? There are 2 located on the 09 RA, first is near the SST and the second is located in the arm rest area. I am having a issue with the arm rest port because it stays on 30 min after you turn the car off...
Please try this out and keep us posted.

I've never had any problems with my FAST key. 2x phone chargers plugged in sometimes. 1x phone charger + 250W power inverter plugged in. A whole mirage of stuff plugged in...never had issues.
Look over your fuse box & check to see if there are any burnt ones, maybe?

The two accessory outlets are on different circuits. The one under the dash air controls powers on with the ACC key setting, while the one in the armrest is on all the time. It's unlikely the battery would drain enough to cause FAST key issues after 30 min, though.
I have my GPS and my Iphone charger going almost all the time and i don't have an issue with having to get that close. I don't have alot of range with it tho. it's about 15-20 feet, I think thats weak when my buddies can hit it at 100+ft
It's probably worth checking the battery in the transmitter as well. You have to remember that FAST key works differently from other remotes, because it is constantly transmitting instead of only working when the button is pressed.
I've never had an issue with mine.
There is a very good reason the range is poor. You dont want to be sitting in your house with your keys hanging up, and having someone touch the back of your door handle unlocking your doors.
Unless of course, you mean pushing the keyfob button itself....

Okay here is a small change.
The range is nice when I don't have anything plugged in, but when I do the range is very poor to the point were it is useless. The FAST key system is dropped about 50% of working and the Keyless entry drops to no more than 7 feet away. If I don't have anything plugged into the outlet everything works great.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but here's how I'm grasping the issue:
The FAST key system, with the keyless entry (the one where you just walk up to it and open the door) has very poor distance when something's plugged into the outlet under the AC controls. You mentioned you sometimes have to touch the door handle? The FAST keyless system ONLY works when you hold the door handle and touch the inside of it.
When you press the button to unlock the doors on your key fob, the distance is very good without something plugged into the outlet but with something in the outlet, it becomes very poor, less than 7ft.
Whatever you have plugged in might be causing RF interference, but something else still doesn't make sense. The outlet under the AC controls is OFF (unpowered) when the car is off, which is usually the only time when you need to lock-unlock the car. Which means that unless there's a short somewhere, whatever's plugged into the outlet when you do need to use the FAST key, is essentially passive.
