Engine Start Problems?

Ive had my 09 Ralliart for about 3 months now. I had the oil changed in it a few weeks ago. Now over the last two weeks Ive had 3 days where it took me 2-5 cranks to get my car started. Yesterday I cranked it twice and it rumbled some then killed and I tryed again and it rumbled and i reved the engine and then it was fine. Has anyone else ever had this problem?

I did notice the the oil change only cost $32. I dont know much about what oils are supposed to be in cars but I thought I had synthetic in it and I thought a synthetic oil change would cost more. Would going from synthetic to regular hurt my car? I'm really new to alot of this so any advice would be appreciated.

The hard start is a common problem...it's happened to me a couple times when I first got my RA. I haven't had any issues in the past 6-7 months though *knock on wood*. Maybe it's a break-in thing?

As far as the oil goes, look at your work order...they might have used their bulk 5w-20/30 mineral oils. The RA comes with mineral oil from the factory - so if you haven't switched to synthetic yet, you should be fine. The manual does recommend that you use mobil 1 synthetic oil though

break in the motor on dead dinosaurs, then switch it up. your next change should be to synthetic.

My car also has the occasonal rough start. no idea why.

Yeah, I noticed it as well. I was hoping someone would bring this up. Thanks.

I get it maybe once every two weeks if that. But it has always started on the second crank.

mine hard starts once every 6-8 weeks, and seems no rhyme or reason? asked the dealer about it and they did a scan, found nothing of course and they also had a blank response.
I'm sure it will surface a bit more as time goes on in these cars and there will be a service bulletin issued at some point.

I saw people post about a fuel relay being faulty. Not sure if this is s linked issue.

This happened to me once. This problem should be unrelated to the fuel pump relay as starting the car is using the low voltage signal to the pump.

Yeah I had that issue like once every blue moon; didn't happen at first but happen lately. But still very rare... I think its just the way I may have crank it or something...and $32 for oil ? Thats cheap if its really syntheic. I would double check at the order.

On a side note... are you guys running synthetic 5w-30 or 10w-30 ?

I'm running Mobil-1 10w-30 for the summer; I'll probably switch it up to 5w-30 for the winter.
