Hey btw, I don't know if yall have noticed but if I unlock the car with either the key button or by grasping the door handle, BUT i don't get to open the door... it will lock itself automatically after 10 seconds; cool thing in case you unlocked the car by mistake with the keys inside ur pocket or something

I've noticed the auto-relock thing. Seems that lots of the newer cars are incorporating it these days.

When I noticed it...It was raining out, and I had unlocked (touched the door handle) the car for my gf and walked away to put the dog inside before we left. She had taken a little too long, and it re-locked before she could get in - and I was still inside with the dog. She ran back in screaming because I "didn't unlock the car for her" even though I did! Silly, petty, fights

I've still yet to try this, I keep forgetting and I don't have the car today.

If you have the FAST key system, leave the car running, close all the windows except for the drivers side window, get out of the car, close the doors, reach in and hit the auto window up button and pull your hand out before it gets crushed. Is the car now locked with the motor running? Can you get back in using the FAST fob?

I got a $10 bet with the dealer. He said I couldn't lock myself out of the car with the motor running. Plus it would be useful when I drop by an atm or something and I don't wanna shut the car down.

Heh i guess you can always try that trick with the window open.

Probably doesn't make a diff if its closed or not. Technically it should lock regardless. Only question is would it unlock with the key fob.

Just tried this...DO NOT roll the windows up if you want to confirm yourself. When the motor is running, and you're outside of the car WITH the fob - the fob is unresponsive. All button functions are DISABLED and touching the door handle will not unlock the car if it is manually locked with the window down. You WILL lock yourself out.

Looks like you won your bet

If you have the fast key with you and you are locked out of a running car, you should be able to walk away. Once you are far enough away, the car *should* shut off, at which point, the fast key should be able to unlock the doors again.

I'm guessing u can use the emergency key to unlock the door then. So in actuality u cannot lock yourself out. But thanx for the experiment

if i move too far away with the FAST key, all the car does is whine and beep with the "confirm key location" display
