In light of the successful comment threads in the Evo sections...let's get one going on the RAs! I'll start:

1) Today; was driving down a subdivision street after dropping off the wapce at school - there's a huge Yukon XL blocking the street, talking to some old lady in a Suburban. As the little lady in the Suburban drives away, she stops next to my car and yells at me in a ghetto accent:

2) I pulled into the local grocery store, VG's, and started to head in. Two chubby white guys heading towards their beat-to-crap S10 notice my car and one says to me:

3) My neighbor heard my bpv go off one day, and decided to bring it up in a conversation:

4) Driving through my neighborhood, a chubby guy sitting on his porch with his buddy jumps up and yells out:

All of these happened in Pontiac...deep in the ghetto, of course. Also get lots of gawks from random people. Sometimes, I'm afraid they're plotting to steal my car outta the driveway.

 

1) ::No audible comments from the Ricers, but my car has the power to mysteriously attract the eyes of every Ricer I pass by. They stare at my car like it is a hot blond walking down the street::

2) One day while at a not-too-far-away convenience store I was inside waiting to pay for my stuff and this car pulls up two parking spots away from me and two guys get out. The driver gets out of his car and starts walking to go into the store but the passenger got out, saw my car and stood there staring at it with his mouth open pointing at different parts of it like a 5 year old points at the toy aisle.

The driver turned back and started talking to his friend in Polish as I was finally walking out. The staring guy watched me get in, start it, and drive off and turned accordingly so he could watch it.

3) African American security guy at my job walked up to me as i was parking and screams "Ooooooohhweeeee!! Look at that paint job, this car is hot! You need... you need some CHROME... right here... right hearah!" as he was making a franctic side to side motion to the famous black EVO-type grill and bumper up front.
I cringed at the thought but I said, "I am trying man! The upgrades are coming!".
He walks to my door pillars and starts making a rapid up and down motion screaming, "You need some CHROME....RIGHT HERE man, RIGHT HERE!!". I then started walking away laughing cause I didn't wanna be late.

4) Roommate got jealous and started saying stuff like "Yeah my STi seems kinda slow!" and "Maybe I should put a turbo in my STi". One week later he traded his heavily modded STi for a 2003 Nissan 350Z base model with 287 HP. I am guessing he did it cause he wasn't feeling too fast or furious after seeing my car.

 

It's funny you bring this up now. I've gotten three or four random complements from coworkers in the last week alone.

I've owned the car since May.

 

ive had a few "nice car" things like that..but the one i remember the most was when i got searched by an officer outside sum apt..he searched a good while of course didnt find nuthin. before he rolled out he says nice car i bet its fast ...

 

I forgot one,

I was on the way out from another grocery store here; a Meijer.

Walking towards my car, I saw an indian guy walking closer and closer to my car, like he was trying to read the badges that weren't there. When he got real close, he exclaimed,
"Oh man! That's a good car! That's a GREAT car!"
I walked by and just opened the door, sat down, with a huge grin, and started up the motor and pulled away.

 

All I've gotten is the "Holy crap!! Is that an Evo?"
me: "No it's a Ralliart."
them: "what's that?"

 

well me the other week I was at the gas station and there was this guy in his 40's maybe, in his lexus, well he was getting gas at the pump closest to me and says " Hey is that one of those ralliart's?" I respond yeah its a lancer ralliart and he starts asking me about the car. He tells me he just got a honda civic si and said he regrets buying it and shouldve got my car. ahahah i just smiled and said later on.

 

LOL thats all i get too T.T its pretty dissapointing. i wish i had an evooo

 

i've gotten a couple of "that's a nice looking car" and a few "is that one of those Evo cars?" I get a few looks here and there, but not many. Mostly people who that think it's an evo at first I'm guessing. Pulling up next to other cars like S2000s, WRXs, MS3s and such usually know what it is. GTS body and all I think the average person just thinks its a Lancer. I have had a few people in busted civics with a really loud fart cans pull up next to me and rev their engines. Always amusing.

 

yeah why is it that any civic or acura that pulls up next to me rev their engine ahaha

 

1. I got this white dude in a base Cobalt on steelies sped up next to me and started revving, i laughed and ignored him, then he drove up a little bit and i saw him constantly poking his head out the window lookin to see if i had an intercooler and his eyes widened, i laughed harder.

2. I had a boosted 2nd gen RSX try me.

3. When i went to work the 1st week when i got my car there were finger prints all over it. I was a lil upset but more happy because it shows that ppl like the car.

4. Pt 1: I was at the local pizzeria and the baker was like "That ****s fast right?" I said "its quick." then he replied "The older ones are faster though right?" Thats when i realized he was talkin about the Evo. I told him its not the Evo but a Lancer Ralliart with turbo and AWD. "Ohhhhhhhhh", i laughed. He pointed to his base 3000GT SL and asked if i was faster and i told him yes but if he had a VR-4 then it would be a different story.
Pt2: The 2nd time i left my car outfront running and as i was payin the cashier i heard "I don't kno who car that is but i want to race it." I knew exactly who it was, i shook his hand and asked if i raced it yet. I told him as soon as i'm able to get to the strip. Another baker came out as i walked out the door and asked the other guy "what car is that?" He replied "its a Lancer Rally Evo turbo or something" I laughed so hard when i sat in my car. They both came to the door and watched me drive off.

5. 2 weeks ago I was leaving Advance Auto Parts buyin paint and as i opened my door i heard "That is such a beautiful car." I turned around and said "Thanx" to the lady that said it. She ask what car was it and i told her. She was like "Damn it really nice. Did u just buy it?" I told her no i got it in May she replied " It looks like u jus bought it." I guess because i just washed it when i got off work that morning and I also applied Nu Finish and Rain X last time i washed it so it looks extra shiny. I said that thank you one more time and got in. I could've sworn i heard her said "You look fine coming out of it as well." But i pretended i never heard that because she really wasn't attractive. I did have a fresh shave and haircut.

 

i would assume you guys get tons of looks and comments from people who think they are evos. From what you have all said alot of people must ask you if they are evo's also. Sometimes even i have to double take regular lancers. They should have made them a little more different looking from each other.

 

Yeah it seems to be the prob.

You're either stuck in the "oh so it's not an evo?" camp or the "oh, so that's like a lancer with a wing on it?" camp.

People at work are the same way.

Good) evo drivers coming over and saying man is that a RalliArt.. I like what you have done ....

Bad) Guy was walking to the metro and he was maybe 20-23 years old carrying a fold up bike, I was driving by minding my own business going about 25 mph and he looked at me, glanced my car over then just started flicking me off , I just laughed but I still don't get why he did it ? also in the bad category everything that has an exhaust or HIDS or aftermarket wheels tries to race me.

Ugly) 99.4% of the time I get "Is that an Evo" I actually tell them it is now, I am not trying to be Fake ! Just tired of explaining all the differences.. I usually lose them when I go into Evo 9 parts and outlander brakes .... ...
