Agreed. I tried to do this to maintain OEM look. Massive Fail even with an amplifier.

F - Diamond Audio HEX S600s
R - Diamond Audio M361i

That's what I have along with an old school Rockford Fosgate Punch 500a2 that I soon want to install in my car after purchasing a new head unit. I had them installed in my old Maxima and they were friggin AMAZING!!!

+1 on dumping the stock head. What a POS. Those door tweeters are awesome too!

i've always had good luck with diamond's. super clear mids and highs even with a lot of bass in the trunk. for the price tho, the infinity 6022i is a great speaker. i had them all 4 doors in a jeep liberty with lots of compliments on sound clarity in a loudish truck. also, remember, infinity used to be mitsu's upgraded sound system choice, so you'd sorta be kickin it old school...lol

oh yeah, and if the sound is really really a big issue to you, like everyone else has said, you will have to end up replacing the head unit to get the quality where it deserves to be

if $ is no option then there are plenty to choose from.

if $ is an option and you would rather spend more money on a nice headunit i would recommend

I put these in my brothers 08 es with the stock headunit and they were decent, he recently upgraded to a double din that i installed and man these speakers came alive not bad @ all for the price.

Alright, I'm going to replace the head unit first...

Anybody have any recommendations for a double din head unit that has GPS? and maybe lane assist? I will sell my aging garmin GPS and put money towards it.

look around at http://ikesound.com/ , best prices around (even compared to Ebay) and they are a legit distributor (local to me, I buy all my stuff and friends' stuff there).

There are a plethora of awesome units with GPS and Bluetooth for under $800.

I would go with Eclipse, Kenwood Excelon or Alpine/Clarion, but Pioneer, JVC, etc are also available

I don't always upgrade my speakers, but when I do, I buy JL Audio.

If you have money get the jl c5's. I owned a pair and by far one of the best sounding speakers I have heard aside from going above 700 dollars.
If you have some money, get the infinity kappa's. Best sounding speaker for the price. I owned these too.
If you have just a little money get the Kenwood Kfc-P709Ps. One of the best pop in speakers I have found for cheap. I currently have these in until I get more money for the system I do want.
