If u don't want issues from your dealer(as u know some are hard *sses) u will be doing oil changes every 5000miles or close to so IMO $60 for Amsoil over $22 for Mobil 1 isn't worth it to me. The main thing u won't benefit from is the long extended periods between oil changes. You said "isn't the protection and peace of mind worth it? " If u follow the Mits service schedule, any of the synthetics on the market would be more then adequate for 5000 miles. Also when I dealt with my local Amsoil dealer with my other cars, if u were using it for a year, he said that he would only do that if u took samples of your oil to get sent away to see if it was still holding up. If not, how do u know that the Amsoil isn't completely broken down after 9 or 10 months(maybe there was still some conventional oil from the factory still left in your engine which lowers the length Amsoil will last as stated on their site) and are doing damage for the next few months? I ain't hating on Amsoil, I really liked the stuff.
If you are running the Amsoil over a year/25K 50-60$ isn't much at all. This is in comparison to another oil that may need to be changed up to 4X more. Besides....$60 isn't nothing compared to a 40K car ....

A good oil will stick to places over the long haul and should clean away surfaces where old oil was. While I don't have a high performance car or drive more than 7K a year I still run the one year/25K. I've posted two oil analysis results and both came back with great results.

True, if u do the 1 year/25k, the price of the Amsoil will be cheaper then 4 Mobil 1 changes. Thats good that it is working great for u.

I don't think you're going to find anyone on here that doesn't run synthetic. Just head to Walmart for some Mobil 1 5w30 for $22 and get yourself a filter and do it yourself. I run the Mitsu filter so they can't ***** and say I didn't use Mitsu parts. It's only $8. So for $30 you can do it yourself and enjoy a couple ice cold beers in the process.

AS far as filters go I use the K&N Gold one from Advanced for 13$ seeing that it has a welded on hex mount wrench piece to loosen it off and tighten it. The filter is also alot bigger than what Mitsu has available.

Pretty much exactly what i do, right now for a few more days autozone has the mobile 1 jug and filter for 30.00 you end up saving like 4.00 off the mobil 1 filter.

they also have a synthetic blend for 19.99 with filter but i dont recommend running that in the ralliart seeing as thats what goes in my brothers 08 es.

I used k&n also but after a while i just changed to mobil 1, the k&n filters always work great tho. but mobil 1 is usually on sale with their oil as a package and the filters are pretty much comparable.

There is actually a law that will protect you the consumer from dealers that want to void your warranty because you ran extended drain intervals on high end oils.

Also on a high performance car like the evo you do not want to change our SSO 0W30 @ 35K or ATM 10W30 at 25K or neither at the reccomended severe driving interval 17K, because of how our cars are you would want to run an oil analysis to get a baseline of when to change the oil, or be like me picky as heck and change the oil every 2K

Now on your Daily driver or your wifes camry you can run these oils with no issues at alll at those levels, we have many customers that do this all day long.

yes Mobil 1 i did it the first week i got the car!! i mean you must have some $$ if you bought this car. 50-60 for for an oil change when you spent around 25g or so on a car is not that bad.

after 1000 miles changed oil with mobile one then did another oil change at 3,000 miles.6,000 and so on. you have to put synthetic the 4b11 is timing chain. once we all reach 130,000 miles lol you well see the chain not as rough or wear and tear, or chain guides well last long. if someone put regular in all there services the chain guides well wear more and maybe get a check engine light for timing off.

Your turbo is lubricated from your oil(note attached file). The top notch brands are great for going out and doing some serious driving/racing. But if you do more show then go Mobil 1 and other close related brands should be just fine. If you stick to the Mitsu guide line you really shouldn't have any problems. They don't just make up the numbers for fun. They have allot more resources and top paid engineers then your local garage/tuner shop. The better your oil the longer/stronger your motor and turbo will run.

Isn't the Evo supposed to be using synthetic? I mean it does say on the engine and in the owners manual. It does say 93 octane, I wouldn't try and use anything less than that. I just recently started using AMSOIL
