Ha! I wish I had to deal with salt. In my neck of the woods it gets too cold for salt, so they just sprinkle rocks on the road. Chips galore!

chains or snow tires for 2012 ralliart

i just got my ralliart. dumped my redtop optima in it already fresh. working on my HKS BOV (pain in the *** btw) umm i was just wondering if it needed chains or new tires from the stock yokohamas that are on it to go in the snow... im in cali and heading to big bear with my bro. hes got his nissan xterra 4x4 and kinda new tires. im just worried about it. im a great driver but crashing that car will literally kill me. any suggestions?

If the car came with the Yokohama "Summer Only" tires they are not going to be very good in the snow, although having all-wheel drive might help to compensate a little bit...

First time it snowed I was still in my summer tires, was fine if driving like 20mph. Any turn over 10mph you will start sliding. I bought a set of snow tires/wheels to swap on and off (16"). It was the same price as 18" snows. If your summers are already needing replacement I would just get a good performance all season set since your in California.

Big bear is not that bad unless it's fresh snow.

I was looking forward to this winter but too bad it barely snowed in the NorthEast...last year I had a BLAST driving in the snow with the Blizzaks too....but sometimes it doesn't matter how well your Ralliart handles the snow....you can only go as fast as the guy in front of you lol....

I drive up to vermont once every 2-3 weeks to snowboard in the winter and most of the time I take the unsalted, sanded/pebbled back roads for fun. I have maybe, a total of 4 rock chips in the past 3 years (no joke).

Rallyarmor mudflaps FTW!
