I wasn't planning to upgrade my exhaust either.

Mitsubishi reports that both cars (EVO and RA) share the same exhaust. Not just the same diameter but the same routing pattern. We asked a number of different Mitsubishi representatives and they all stuck to the story. This means it will be a slam dunk for exhaust manufacturers because one system will cover both the Ralliart and the Evo. (Turbo Magazine)
The validity of that statement and many others like it is still up for debate, but I am willing to give it a try when I modify my own car.

^I don't think it's up for debate anymore. The exhaust system may be the same, but the the routing path is definiately different. A quick search will yield results.

I'm pretty sure the design of the stock catback (for both X & RA) was pretty great and isn't really a bottleneck in the car's performance (along with the stock intake system). The OEM specs on both the intake/exhaust are pretty ingenious/awesome/stealthy.

Blitz Nurspec C-Ti is 90db. It's maybe 1 step above stock.

Call AMS and see who makes the exhaust can for them. Then call them or search the web for a silencer. Or ebay search a 4" universal silencer. They will not hurt performance that much.

Wow that really sucks for the RA guys. There are some pretty nice exhausts for the evo x.

I gots a QTP downpipe with electronic cut out. Based on your needs, I think it is the way to go. I get about an extra 25WHP and great turbo spool with it open.

You said that you want a sleeper...well an aftermarket exhaust (no matter how quiet it is does not look like a sleeper from behind).

Good Luck

For the price I would recommend the ultimate-racing catback with mini-muffler and the resonator. Legamax has a different(not good for me at least) sound to it than other exhausts.
