Wingless and handling
Wingless and handling
Just curious for those of you who have removed the rear wing, have you noticed any changes in handling specially on the freeway, or even slight increased in mileage due to less drag. I was wondering if having a wing does improve handling.
For most street situations, especially if you're going under... say 70 mph (just my guess here, from experience) it isn't going to make much of a difference either way. Especially the smaller spoiler.
In high speed situations, it definitely makes a difference, but you already knew that. If you want to take it off, just take it off.

Not sure how much benefit the RA spoiler really as, since it is almost below the airflow. The taller Evo spoiler is designed to be in clean air, so I would imagine a noticeable difference there.
was that too soon? bad taste maybe? sorry i couldnt resist.
Lolz, nah not too soon cause he lived so no worries. Couple people from my car club here at JMU knew that guy lol.
A spoiler, as stated, makes a difference at higher speeds you'll probably never notice the difference.

If a Mini-S can reach 140+, I'm sure an RA could. How often a Ralliart will actually use a spoiler is probably minuscule at best. If the OP's question is whether removing it is a good idea or bad idea. I'd say it's all personal pref. If you are tracking the car, I'd put on the X SSS spoiler.

Ok I've been wanting a wing delete just waiting on lowering springs otherwise it looks funny, yes ralliarts can go 140+ I've been at 140 and I felt like I had a bit more, of coarse only at the track, car is pretty stable at that speed the only problem I had was slowing down, that's when I felt the brakes do need upgrading.
what's that supposed to mean? ever heard of a road course? i've done 155 in my EVO IX more than once on a road course, and at the airstrip we do our autocrosses at sometimes when they let us use the entire length.
as for the wing debate, I don't know if the small wing on these cars does much, but i know the big one does. the EVO IX's wing starts making noticeable handling changes at speeds as low as 60mph. around a high speed corner without the wing, it definitely makes a noticeable difference in how loose the car is. even at street legal speeds on higher speed roads with curves the difference can be felt. If you're going to track the car, the wing is definitely needed. I'm sure the small wing doesn't provide as much downforce as the larger one does, but every little bit helps when you need it. airflow is a very important part of handling, and anyone who says otherwise doesn't know what they are talking about.
