It says in the manual that the car will have trouble starting? Where does it say that?

I beleave in the engine section about cold starts mine did it while I was in colorado and once here in cali when the temp was around 37F or below that Ill have to look it up to find that page.

I mean the that manual basically tells you how to "drift" also I found that one line funny.

possible maf issue or dealer reflash needed

Hey guys, waiting at stoplight today my RA rpms started dipping and jumpinf. Didn't jump over 1000 but fell under to around 400, back and forth, I hit the gas and it stopped. Is this a common issue? I know there's a recall ecu reflash for the RA that's needed, do you think that could be the issue? I checked panel filter for any gaps and it was good. So far its only happened once but car rpm idle does barely move normally which I figure is normal. Any feedback would help and tell me if you guys had dealer reflash done.

This car just acts funny. Seems like it has a mind of it's own sometimes... doesn't start, rpm up and down on idle, bucks when flooring, doesn't engage gears, sometimes real smooth.. the thing is it's not consistent... You'll eventually stop worrying and enjoying the ride more haha That's what happened to me at least.

But no i haven't had that problem idle seems to be fine even when I do something radical

Thanks Skym, appreciate it. I am starting to learn these cars are a little funky, weird noises and such. I am getting used to it, but I havent really had the car very long, it has very little miles on it hence why I make so many posts. As far as the dealer reflash, anybody done that? They must have just put it out there because I was at dealer a couple weeks back and nothing was said about it.

I occasionally have an erratic idle as you described. Never had it cause any problems, but it was concerning at first. As Skym said you just get used to this stuff.

it wasnt a lecture. Every thread you have made thus far has been previously discussed. If you used the new thread button less and the search button more you would find equal or more information to answer your question.

Yep, I saw a thread about MAF probs, but didnt see anything about the reflash that dealers are talking about...So I combined them. Seems nobody has gotten the dealer reflash/recall done, thats really what I was trying to figure out, if maybe the issue was a byproduct of that not being done. MAF would make sense, but would prob mean that it was constant.

The dealer reflash is the AWC reflash (search for it) and it was to deal with start issues, the herky-jerky feeling u get sometimes in stop and go traffic and something for the AYC pump I believe. Tons of us have got it done.

The best bet is to search 1st, and if u can't find what u are looking for then make a thread asking your question. It gets kinda annoying for certain people who have been on here a while when the same few questions are posted a million times, especially the "my car doesn't start sometimes" or "I want to mod but am afraid Mits will void my warranty, what to do" and on and on. And please NEVER EVER start a "WRX vs RA" thread EVER. Next person that does forfeits their right nut. We were all Newbs once so most of us are pretty laid back with u damn newbs and your million questions
