Manual transmisson
still... they could offer some insight into all of this for our benefit, if nothing more than to give us an entry point and let us experiment from there. it would definitely help reaffirm our trust in the sst if we are able to really use it to its fullest potential
It doesn't necessarily say anything. It's not a street car, it's not stock, it has a team of people who's job is to monitor it and keep it running as best they can and it doesn't appear to be a Ralliart.
it doesnt apply directly to our cars in any way, shape, or form. in that, you are correct amby. all this is doing is giving us a bit of hope in regards to the overall sst platform that its not a complete waste and better things are possible on a mitsu platform. baby steps in the right direction, thats all.
All that matters is that it is a stock engine and trans. The MR was only pushing 300hp from a tune, intake and exhaust. The only major mods were to the body, so it could meet safety standards and air lift. They left the drivetrain stock other than the two additional oil coolers to make a point.
So they may not be that different.

Galant Fortis RALLIART is fitted with Mitsubishi's Twin Clutch SST (Sport Shift Transmission) automated manual transmission that allows the driver both the fun and economy of a manual gearbox plus the convenience and comfort of an automatic transmission. The Twin Clutch SST used on the Lancer Evolution X has been modified for Galant Fortis RALLIART with different ratios for 5th and 6th gears to give improved fuel economy in high-speed cruising on longer trips

Unfortunately, they are pretty different. So much different, in fact, that I would bet that if you tried to swap an MR transmission into the Ralliart, it wouldn't work at all.
I know I'm entering this thread extremely late, but I would like to add my $.02. When I bought my ralliart, it was a choice between the RA and the WRX. I actually preffered the WRX, but my insurance company wanted to charge me an aditional $100/month for the Subi. For me the biggest difference between the SST and a manual is the ability to control the clutch. When I bought the car, I thought that if I had the tranny in manual mode, then it would only engage the clutch when I told it to shift gears, or if the vehicle was at a stop. I am finding that not to be the case, and I am becoming less and less satisfied with the SST transmission. I want to control my car, not have a computer guess at what it thinks I want it to do!
was so much complaing...waht happens to you guys in 2015 when cars fly and are'nt manual anymore(and yes I know the the car in the movie was manual).
things are starting to change even the new model panemera has a SST in it how does that one preform.
this is not some tech that only mitsu is using. Although I like shifting I like change too and its time for some in the car department. Its not the 1920s anymore
embrace the computer controlled manual
if you want a manual buy one...
