I, personally, don't think that a WRX is a WRX if it doesn't have a manual. I just can't imagine it any other way.

I would be willing to bet that the computer system wouldn't like that too much, although I have no clue. The electronics in this car are way above my level of understanding. I wonder how a GSR manual would work in conjunction with the visual display that we have in our Ralliarts. I bet that there is a lot more to swapping over a manual than is immediately apparent.
Programming the ECU to ignore the missing TCU would be a major PITA.

I have an old (3+ year) Modified Mag that shows an early 90's VW GTI with a 3.2 VR6 from a DSG TT swapped in by CWS in Regina...they didn't carry over the DSG, using a Jetta's 02A-model 5-speed. Anyways, arguably the best VW software tuner on the market (APR) only *barely* managed to get the ECU to ignore the missing TCU, with the consequence of a 1000rpm lower redline than it should have (5500rpm instead of 6500ish). AND...this was in a car where no other electronics would interfere, the only concern was the engine and the transmission.

Our cars have that CANBUS network, the programming and wiring hacks would be much more complicated than what CWS and APR went through on that install...

I'm guessing that if you swapped with a GSR transmission, you'd probably want to use a GSR ECU. Then again, as I understand it, they are the same ECU with different programming, so you also could reflash the RA's ECU with a GSR basemap and program from there. *shrug*

I saw that as well. I have seen this happen a few times now, where the computer is absolutely incompatible with the new transmission. That is exactly why you won't see me trying that mash-up. I would be willing to bet, though, that someone will figure it out in time (once more TC-SST's start going and there are more wrecked GSR's out there to salvage). However, by that time, hopefully, they will have our TCU figured out. Until then, I am going to hold off on assembling a new manifold, turbo, etc. setup. I would hate to go to the trouble of buying all of that just to have my transmission eat itself a few months later and then have the dealer refuse to honor the warranty on the transmission. At that point, I would just buy a new car. The Ralliart is nice and all, but that is way too much trouble.

That being said, hat's off to you brave souls out there who have swapped over to and FP-Green or FP-Red. I guess as long as you don't have a lead foot, you should be as well off as you were when you were stock in terms of chances of a transmission problem. Either way, buena suerte!

SST transmission is very cool for hard driving but for daily commuting It's the worst transmission I ever drive. For that reason I would prefer manual transmission and It's for that reason I d'like to have a ralliart with a stick. I don't think a ralliart with manual transmission would be less interesting. For me a WRX is probably a good car but he is to ugly to make me switch to subaru.

I really like the SST Transmission, but there is nothing like having a manual transmission. The SST Transmission is HORRIBLE for acceleration.

Well no ****. Are you saying the 4G Eclipse was the best car ever, or people have convinced themselves to like what they bought? No one likes to admit their new purchase isn't the end all be all, but to do so is proof, to me, of a higher level of thinking.

Hey, guess what? Mitsubishi's warranties suck, our dealers suck, our interiors suck, our paint sucks, a number of things suck. But if you find enough you like to outweigh those things, bravo; you can be happy about your purchase.

No kidding, liking your car doesn't mean you have to have an undying, dogmatic love of your car. Even Ferrari owners ***** about how stiff the ride is or how the leather seats squeak.

It is called Cognitive Dissonance. People who cannot/are not willing to accept the consequences of their decisions have issues.

I don't intend to own a Mitsubishi forever. Hell, after my Eclipse (which I had mixed feelings about), I swore that I would never buy a Mitsubishi ever again. And here I sit.

God forbid someone expresses doubt about your new purchase. That would mean...wait...no...that it might not have been 100% correct? No, that is an unpleasant thought. Let me defend my decision by posting on the internet in CAPS LOCK.
