Exclamation Acceleration Sucks!

I don't know if any other people have noticed it, but the acceleration sucks on the RA's. Is it because of the SST?

With a completely stock RA from a stand-still yes it is nothing exciting due to the weight.

Get some mods done, get a tune, and get used to how the SST works and you'll be more happy with it. =)

I have 4k miles on the car...I know how it works. I have had heavy cars have quicker acceleration, but they were manual.

probably more from turbo lag than the sst. the transmission is pretty responsive actually, imo, once you get the hang of it. i know you've had the car for awhile, but since i got mine, i've learned what degree of acceleration and pedal position for how many gears and when its going to shift so that i barely even have to look at the speedo anymore and i can usually tell you how fast im going within a couple mph. its just getting a feel for the system and it'll become more familiar and much easier to get it to do what you want it to do when you want it to do it

also, mine accelerates to 100mph in around 13 seconds, so i dont see any problems there really...

Turbo lag is a problem when running from a stand still. Lack of launch control makes matters worse. The guys at AMS have been pretty successful at "launching" the car, but it's still gonna be relatively slow from a dig, and I'm not sure how much wear and tear it will have on the transmission, I imagine a lot.

I wouldn't put launching and acceleration in the same category. I do agree with the others here, though... it is more of a matter of turbo lag, which is easier to compensate for when you can slip the clutch.

always drive the RA in sport - manual mode.

in AUTO mode ,whether in auto or sport , the car is a slug.

It doesn't matter if we drive in normal or sport. That delay is always there.

No. No fix for this unless you get a different car and know how to use your left foot.

Putting the car in "sport" mode while manual shifting does nothing.

Auto - Normal = Auto shift in lower RPM range for better fuel economy.
Auto - Sport = Auto shift at higher RPM ranger, keeping the car in it's power band for quicker acceleration.

Manual shifting = Bypassing auto shifts in favor of manual shifts.

AMS usually runs their car in Auto - Sport mode and the car performs really well. In fact I think Eric has said he prefers to just set the car in Auto - Sport mode when he runs the car at the track. Auto - Sport does a terrific job of keeping the car in it's power band IMO, far better than I could for up shifts and down shifts when running through the twisties.

If you are going to run in manual mode I have found that the transmission shifts tend to respond quicker with the paddles than tap shifting the shift lever, though I'm nut sure why.

But, yes, take off delay will always be there.
