80% Solution

Is the ralliart at least 80% of the Evo X? For someone who wants a DD, needs a decent trunk, and a softer ride. I want an Evo but with two kids I am going to need carry stuff. I know that a ralliart will never be an Evo even with mods but I am okay with close enough.

I test drove both the X and the RA, and in my opinion the RA is a better DD. If you dont plan on tracking the car very much, then your not really going to see a HUGE difference between the two. The RA suspension is softer than the X, and it feels much more friendly as a DD than the X. The RA is just a really fun car to drive where the X makes it seem like a much more serious affair.

I forgot about the battery, and didn't know about the flip down. I was wondering how two cars with almost identical bodies could have that much difference in cargo space.

The non-AWD Lancers have an even bigger trunk.

The X has bracing, the battery and the cooler spray tank in the trunk. As far as tracking Im not looking to do more than the occasional drag and autocross.

i have 2 kids as well. when i'm driving them i use paddle shift and drive pretty mundane. auto-normal mode still revs a bit high and is jerky when the engine is cold, and last time i used it my oldest puked in the car. that was the only thing i changed about driving that day.

i'd recommend upgrading the BPV to something metal, and get an EVO X fmic if you're going to track it at all. the stock IC just heatsoaks fast and auto-x doesn't really get up to speeds where it's cooling really effectively.

Yup. And I'm about to toss the spare tire to have just the same space than regular lancers. So the goalie hockey bag will enter fine. The bottom cardboard is the same than regular lancers, just look the unused brackets.

The RA sedan has pretty decent trunk space, especially since you can lower down the rear seats. I have never had an problems of not being able to fit something in there. If you get a RA tuned, its just as quick as an Evo x if your driving on the street. Its on the track that the Evo x really comes alive and separates itself from the RA. If your not going to track the car, get a RA, its a great car and the possibilities as far as tuning are just starting to be explored a little more, I would expect a lot of things to happen in that aspect, this year, which will make the RA even quicker.
