Opinions needed!!

Hey guys, I'm currently driving an 08 GTS, and i'm looking to upgrade... Was debating if i wanted to go with an 08 Evo MR, 09 Ralliart, or just mod my lancer.. what do you guys think? Obv insurance with an Evo is the big killer for me being 23. and i think get a good bang for my buck with the 09 ralliart (AWD in Minnesota is almost necessary for winters..).

A ralliart won't satisfy u if your true aspiration is an Evo, hence, get the Evo. Test drive both though, you might find the Ralliart is the more daily driver friendly of the two... but if that's not even an issue, definitely I vote Evo.

Just my opinion...

I'd go Evo also. Only reason I have an RA is because I wanted NEW and didn't have the cash for a new evo. If I didn't mind getting used, I would have bought an 08 Evo for the same money, or less.

That being said, I love my RA and have no regrets.

If you can afford the Evo, get the Evo.

If you want a good DD w/ good power and AWD, but you cannot afford the Evo get the Ralliart.

If you play hockey like me, get the Ralliart because the Evo seats don't fold down.

That was one of my concerns. I snowboard and don't want to throw a rack on top of my car.

This will be my DD. I've always wanted an Evo, but as for the money, i can't justify spending another 7k over an 09 ralliart to get an Evo that is a year older. That and insurance is also a factor since i'm still relatively young.

Man get a Ralliart. A ralliart will be such a big improvement over the GTS and is a much much more friendly daily driver than the Evo. The only reason I didnt get an Evo was because I couldnt justify having it as a daily driver. The suspension is stiff, every pothole rattles the whole car, its meant for the track. If you really wanted an Evo and knew insurance wouldnt kill you, you would be driving one already.

Do the math, get insurance quotes, and add in $200-300 per month for fuel, and decide if you can afford to drive an EVO. If you can swing it, go for the EVO.

I'd get the RA. For the money you will save in gas, insurance, and purchase price you can set the RA up pretty nice. Unless you are going to track the car extensively, the RA will make for a better DD and you won't feel bad using the car at 3/10ths most of the time.

Thanks for the input guys. I was thinking the RA. I test drove one and the performance over my GTS was night and day. I haven't test driven an Evo, but i don't plan on hitting the track with it. Mainly just have a nice car that i can mod and tune as i please, but also have a nice daily driver. Plus, not that it's a big deal, i do like the savings in getting the RA vs Evo

I would suggest not even driving the Evo. It might just ruin your opinion of the RA. You said you wanted a DD with function and tune ability That spells RA.

i wouldn't go with an EVO 8 over an RA. the RA is much closer in performance to the old EVO's than the EVO X. plus the updated exterior styling is much nicer, imo.

but if you plan on modding hardcore like upgraded turbo etc, then i'd buy an 8 or 9. you could have a hell of a track car for what an RA costs.

I wasn't planning on looking at an Evo 8.. I was going to go with a 08 (2008) Evo MR.
