Curiosity, Evo X & '10 Ralliart

I am new to the site and very new to cars so I'd appreciate not getting ripped on for asking, what exactly are the differences between the '10 Ralliart and the Evo X? I see a few visual changes, but what makes them different besides that?

Ralliart is better for DD (my opinion) Evo x is better for track use. Both are amazing to drive, it all depends on what you need. Try both at the stealership to get a better idea.

A lot. Are you talking about performance wise?

To keep it simple, think of the Ralliart as a juiced up GTS, take a GTS and add a small turbo, AWD, diffs, dual exhaust, vented hood and a few other little things. The X will have a larger turbo, more advanded AWD system, AYC, Brembo brakes, widebody, aluminum fenders/roof and suspension components, as well as Bilstein suspension. The MR tranny has SSport mode, diff TCU programming and stronger clutch packs. Also the X's back seats won't fold down due to the battery in the trunk and washer fluid I think it was. I probably forgot a few things but you get the idea.

The RA is a great DD and fun to drive, but the Evo X is a beast. The X is way more performance based. You can spend tons on the RA to get it fast but the X has components that you can't get on the RA or would cost way too much to put on. You could take a RA and MR with the same power and in a straight line they would be pretty close but once you get to the twisties or corners it wouldn't even be close.

Wink a lot difference

the evo x has aluminum suspension while the Ra has a steel...evo x has S-AWC + AYC that even the sti can't even catch up ..(no body roll here ) the Evo x is a hardcore Rally car that the suspension is so stiffed that is kinda hard to be a DD... and yes the MR has a stronger clutch packs that they can manage to hold up to 400+ whp and 400 torque my friend has an MR that is modified with FP red turbo doing 427whp... and yes you get what you pay for... RA is more a hobby car put some money to it and it will makes you smile

Yeah, performance wise. In the sense of, if I were to race one. What is in the Evo X that would make me lose? But I think the other posts pretty much covered it.

Can you explain the bolded parts mean? I am VERY new to anything about cars. I'm 18 and never had an interest in them until I began driving which has only been about half a year.

The AWD is the same. The difference is in the rear differential.

The ralliart has a mechanical 1.5 way limited slip differential from the Evo IX.

The evo x has AYC - which is an electronically controlled differential.

Either is exceptionally good. If you look at most AWD systems out there (99%), they have open differentials and the car uses the traction control to limit slip = cr@p

The Ralliart comes with POS tires that sabotage its handling.

The Evo has 54 more hp at the crank, better brakes, and less body roll.

If you drive it manually with the paddles, the S-Sport mode will do nothing for you. I find it very hard to believe that the clutches are different between the Evo X and Ralliart TC-SST.

The Ralliart has a taller 5th & 6th gear so its quieter and more fuel efficient on highway. It is also cheaper to insurance etc so better for daily driver.

As said above - if you want a track car get the Evo X, or mod the Ralliart

I wouldnt get an evo as an 18 year old who doesnt know what "whp" is.

Uhm, like everyone said. The r/a is just an awd/turbo/tc-sst lancer with an evo hood and slightly bigger brakes than a gts. The evo has a comepletely different suspension setup and turbo and body parts. You can easily make a r/a have more hp than a stock evo, but when it comes to corners.. you know. If i had to choose, id go ralliart. The evo has a lot of maintenance fees and once the mod bug bites you, say bye bye to your money :P

WHP is wheel horsepower. Cars hp is measured at the crank, like the RA has 237hp that is at the crank, but has around 195hp to the wheels(depending on the car, little higher or little lower). The reason the whp is lower then the crank hp is due to drivetrain loss(loss of power it takes to move the gears, tranny, wheels, etc).

I already have a Ralliart. I was looking to find differences between them, not which to get. Thanks though
