Wideband and Data Logging

I'm trying to decide on which Wideband I want to go with and have a few questions. I dont like the flashing colored lights of most digital gauges (UEGO) so I was planning on going with an analog gauge.

This is the one I think I'm going to go with.

I need the 8.5 to 18:1 gauge correct?

It has the 5v output, can I use these two connectors to hook up to my laptop for data logging?

Is there any major issue with running an analog gauge vs a digital one? Like I said I dont like the multicolor sweeping lights like on the UEGO and trying to read a constantly changing 3 digit number like a prosport is difficult. With the analog gauge I can just glance in the direction of the gauge and be able to see where the needle is.

Well AMS has also added some new electronics and stuff to their page as well. Could be worth a check just to see your options all around.

Topspeed is a vendor on here that offers Gauges for great prices and I think is also worth checking out or contacting them.

Yep, you need a usb to serial port and the wires need to be soldered to it. There is a How To on here for that. The ones from mellon are what you need but I think there is more and maybe cheaper options?

I have a local shop who I will be buying the gauges from.

As for the wires to data log, why do I need to solder? or do you mean from the other end of the serial cable to the gauge itself?

Those are the only cable Ive found that come pre-made.

yes, i believe so, if you want to log afr using a program like evoscan or something like it. I think its 2 but some wires from the gauge have to be soldered to the serial port on the cable so you can log it. I still can't find the thread but its on here somewhere. I could be wrong...

I'm still not sure of how to setup ecuflash to read the WB. I have a Zeitronix ZT-2 and never installed it because I'm not sure of how to reprogram ecuflash to understand it. If anyone has a step by step for this I would really appreciate the help.

That walk through it to use the wideband to report info directly to the ECU then log that. I don't want to disable my rear O2 sensor etc, I want to use the serial cable and log from the gauge.
