Snow chains
I would not recommend snow chains. Page 7-37 in the Owner's Manual states "Tire chains cannot be used on your vehicle. The clearance between chains and the body is not sufficient to allow proper clearance, and the vehicle body might be damaged."
If you decide to use them then be very careful. Make sure they are put on correctly and drive slow.

I know this post is a little older, but I have a set of chains specifically for the evo. I had one a few years back, and never used the chains, as I had the Blizzak tires, but I almsot needed them once. If anyone is interested in these chains, they are brand new, never used. Again, made by mitsubishi, and specifically for the evo. I paid $250 new. ASKING $100. Let me know.
We went up to Arrowhead (near Big Bear, for those not familiar) last year for Thanksgiving and no chains needed on the way up, but while we were there it snowed. We were in my wife's Honda Pilot (AWD) so we were ok, but the rest of my family was in fwd cars and they has some 'fun' getting down the hill, well it was actually getting up out of the little valley Arrowhead is in that was interesting as the main hightway was pretty clear.
Anyway...in the olden days when I was young and frugal, we could 'rent' snowchains or cables buy just returning them if you didn't use them within 30 days or whatever. Now I am told Pep Boys and the like either don't accept returns or charge a restocking fee for chains/cables.
Cheers.

4 real snow tires as narrow as possible, as explained on this forum with awd will get you most anywhere unless you hang up on real deep wet snow, another often omitted fact SNOW tires STOP much better!!!! could save a fender bender!!!!
Thanx for the info yahh, so I guess I won't need chains but if I do I'll just get some there, I was just curious how the awd would respond if the rear wheels have chains, probably not good, I was just making sure. Oh yeah what the heck does buying an evo have to do with my question, I have snow tires but wasn't sure if they still required chains. Like stated before ralliart is all wheel drive.
