Bov
If you want that loud dump sound, get the UR SRI...and then a tune IMMEDIATELY afterward. I get compliments on my "BOV" all the time. I wasn't looking for the sound, but it is definitely there.
Your not a ricer man and your not a disgrace. And if no one welcomed you to the forums well then welcome. Try searching out with the search option at the top right hand and you'll find loads of information.
If you really want a loud BOV then by all means go get one and as someone pointed out the HKS SSQV is the one. Although to be honest all you really need is a stock Evo X or Evo IX BOV and an open intake (Ultimate racing, AMS, etc etc) to really hear it.
Personally as someone said you dont really "need" it because it could potentially lead to a loss in power if not setup correctly. But an EVO IX or X will be fine for you.
But hey its your car and do as you please. It's also your money, how you spend it I could care less lol just giving you my opinion. I say save up for an intake, exhaust and tune and boost pill. Good sounds, good power and you'll be in the low 13's if not breaking into 12.9 depending on your sea level...
To each his own on exterior, interior, performance modifications, gauges, stickers etc etc. The ricer is the person who challenges you at a stoplight knowing he has a homemade intake on his car and being cocky about it.
Haha personally I think and I have seen G35 owners being cocky pulling up to discreet vehicles who "they" think are ricer and wanting to race them because they think their car is something extraordinary or amazingly superior in every facet of description of the other car. Well to be honest that G35 owner is the ricer to me. Thats why I had to teach one a lesson a week ago after saying "Lancers are slow haha my 3.5 350z is something to behold"...yeah well he shut up and stayed behind me a little while after it turned green, I gave no exchange of words, just smiled and gave a thumbs up!...

I use a GO FAST BITS on my IX and my X. LOVE them, you can fully VTA or REC it and anywhere in between. It also has a screw that adjust the spring to properly tune to each car. It uses a piston where the stock uses a diaphragm. The benefit even on a stock car is that the piston style holds higher boost and can open and close faster than the stock. WORKS uses these on several cars and never had an issue.
everyone who rides in my car loves the sound of the bov after i added the intake also. ive also seen many peoples faces/decisions change who wanted to green light race me after they heard the blow off. its very aggressive
because its stupid, that why. Its not a hard concept.
The vehicle is unable to compensate for air that is SUPPOSED TO BE RECIRC'd post maf. It assumes its there because it has no way of knowing otherwise. This can create bogging, hesitation, leaness, fuel economy loss and many other issues.
It smoothed out the popping in your exhaust and you're proud of that? Wow is all i have to say to that.
As was stated, if you get a UR intake and tune, the stock or evo X BPV (NOT BOV) is quite loud through the intake, doesnt have a ricer ting to it, and wont annoy everyone unless you want it too.
I can see you now, in 5th gear on the highway revving up and letting off the throttle 30 times to hear the whoosh because its SOOO cool.

way to go doooosh... i bet your really proud of yourself.. i appreciate your advice but your comments are uncalled for... why does it matter to you if i want my car to have a loud bov?? it's my personal preference and it doesn't affect you in any way. Yeah i think the sound is cool oh well. I love all the sounds cars make i think most of us are like that we love cars that's why we bought ralliarts and not a pos civic or corrola.
)Hey man take the advice you've heard, weigh want you want and don't want and then do as you please....enjoy its sounds, enjoy its performance and most importantly enjoy YOUR car.
Good luck in what path you choose and please update us on the progress of your car. Everyone has a different taste...and as far as the advice you've been given, you have heard it and most of it good but it only goes as far as the text on your screen. The ultimate decision lies with YOU and make sure you make the choice that you feel is best for YOU and YOUR car.
Personally, calling what someone has done to their car stupid regardless of the effects performance wise, while they in no way had any intention of trying to "race" "act cocky" or say their car is hot stuff in front of true tuners, imports and domestic vehicles, is pretty ricey to me, just like the G35 owner in my story on page 1!

Well, it is going to require a tune, any way you slice it. Why not put a worthy set-up together and achieve the sound as a by-product? A nice set of pipes, an inter-cooler, an intake, a boost pill, maybe a new BPV, and a tune should accomplish this and get your car moving at the same time. Plus, you will accomplish one whole hell of a lot more than just a cool noise. Just a thought.
Drift and TurboSmart both make a good BoV with Trumpets and make a lot of noise. They also have plumb-back options for when you don't need the noise. TurboSmart have a 50/50 option - best of both worlds.
I have the Drift, and I can tell you it does make a difference. They don't open as early under light vacuum, make a little flutter up to around 2700rpm, and hold the boost better.
