Seriously look into one like the GOFASTBITS, i have 2 one on my IX and one on my X. This are 100% adjustable work better than stock and you can have it closed, open or anywhere in between. Also changing you airbox out does make a HUGE difference. You wont see any issues with the GO FAST BITS. Works has installed many of these. It is the same simple piston design of many companies. Fully adjustable sound and rate to tune to your specific car. They also hold much higher boost than stock. If you want pics I can send you pics on and off the car of this one too.

I'll say this once more...if you want something proven, that will give you the noise you're looking for AND the performance, go with a good open filter intake like ETS, and either the stock EVO X blow off valve, or the Synapse DV.

Both of those will be a great upgrade from your plastic stock DV, and with the open filter, they will give you the sound you want. You're not going to get the sound with the stock air box, and if you go with a vent to atmosphere setup you're going to lose power, and your car will run like total crap. with either of those valves and an open filter you'll hear the DV everytime you let of the gas, guaranteed. the Synapse will be louder than the EVO X valve by the way.

good luck.
