I'm old school, I like to change the oil every 3k miles, but I do it myself so it's a little cheaper. I know you don't need to but in a turbo car you punish your oil a tot more than an N/A car.

Can't go wrong changing your oil every 3K (thats what I do no matter what). However most synthetic oils are good for 5K. If you useing Mobil 1 your wrong (not just my opinion) you should be using Brad Penn or Motul or Royal Purple, Brad Penn is the better one!

Royal Purple...man use it.

Change it yourself and take the oil to Autozone tons cheaper.

124 to do it at Jiffy Lube

like 60 to do it my self.

Oil change intervals really depend on the type of driving you do (driving style and short city trips vs. long highway).

A lot of people will recommend high dollar oils to someone who never tracks the car and will probably sell it after 60,000 miles anyway.

Just change it every 3k to 5k with any name brand synthetic and you'll never have an oil-related engine failure.

I change my oil using Mobil 1 every 7500 miles, and don't have any issues.

Pepboys always has deals on oil.
Mobil 1 - 5 qts+ filter=$32
Royal purple - 5 qts + filter=$50

And if you don't feel like changing it yourself. They'll do it for you for $18.

I usually change my self Royal purple with k & n filter= 55$ but now since I'm friends with the service department I let the dealership change it for me for 10$. The reason I rather them do it is because it's documented.

3000 changes are in my opinion a waste of good oil if its Mobil 1 that your running. I have interviewed countless engineers inside mobil 1 up here in canada and in the states and they cringe.... Now I say this to those who drive their car like a normal daily driver. The oil is engineered to be perfect. With uniform flow and a fomulation that is resistant to breaking down in normal conditions. Regular oil analysis would confirm that.

The reason why I am more incline to believe that is because I run mobil 1 an change my oil in all my older cars (not my lancer yet) with Mobil 1 extended performance and change my oil at 20,000 to 25,000km intervals running extended performance filters.

Retired the Honda about a year ago cause suspension finally gave out, and the mazda I drive is at 350,000 and still going strong. With super clean emissions tests.

Now if I beat on the car, different story. But the truth is synthetic oil is superior to conventional oil. People just rangle over what brand of synthetic reins supreme. A debate that will likely never end.

3k is what my stealership changes my oil. Easier for me to have them do and it also means they keep a nice record of all the times they have changed your oil incase of any warranty issues that may surface.

Besides, this car makes oil changes a bit$#. Theres like 10 screws just to get the plastic under trey off and then taking off the oil filter just makes a mess. I would rather pay the 75$ (I make them use full synthetic) and let the stealership do it.
