The OEM studs from the Ralliart fmic will work just fine, but since I sold mine and am running the X intercooler, it's only got 1 removable stud. For those who are switching from their stock intercooler to the CBRD model, there would be no issues since you can just re-use your OEM stuff. The CBRD intercooler did not come with a mounting stud on either side and would require the use of both of your OEM studs, but since I switched to the Evo intercooler already and selling my stock fmic, it was kind-of basically my own fault for not being able to use my old parts.

I actually left the CBRD unit wrapped in cardboard to try and preserve the fins until I'm actually ready for the install, but I'll try and get some more pics when I get home and then just cover it back up.

So, I've decided that I need a new camera because 5.0MP with Zero optical zoom just does not do this any justice. I'll have to find a better camera when it comes time for install.

As far as the intercooler goes, the welds look amazing, to the point of appearing machine-made in some areas, they are that good. This is a big meaty unit that I'm sure will be able to shed a ton more heat than the stock unit and even the Evo's stock unit. You can see the ends were covered well during shipping, so no styrofoam peanuts found their way inside to plug up the cooler (I had a friend get a new fmic from another vendor here, not going to say names, but the inlet/outlet were not covered well and a bunch of crap ended up in the tanks). Also, you can see where there are 2 places to thread-in the mounting piece that attaches into the rubber hangers, they are the same as on a stock intercooler.

Now, onto the pics, if there are any angles or close-ups you'd like me to try and take now while the I/C is still uninstalled, please let me know and I'll do my best:

Just in case there is anyone who doesn't know, all pictures I post will be kept on the small side in the thread so as not to clutter up too much space while trying to read the information or have issues when quoting/reposting/etc. If you want to see in better detail, simply click the pic and it'll open up a little bigger. Click the new pop-up pic and it'll open in its own explorer window.

Thanks for sharing the pictures of the CBRD FMIC. It certainly is a beefy unit and looks very nice, and obviously appears to be a very professionally built item!

I hope it works out very well for you, and you are able to see an appreciable impact in performance.

After a brief recent discussion with Chad I was personally planning on buying one of these as well as the RAD turbo. I must admit I just can't quite get my head around why the FMIC does not come with required mounting studs needed to mount on the FMIC on our cars. Oh well maybe that is just me

Best of luck and thanks for sharing the pictures!

The intercooler is made to replace the RALLIART oem fmic- not an evo X- so you it was designed to use the OEM mounts

the way it is done is more robust than welding pins to the core (like our X FMIC- but the X fmic has an additional bracket underneath to hold it)..

you simply unscrew the two side mounts from the OEM RA fmic- and thread them into ours

Cheers

AMS utilizes FCP cores (like we do for our EVO X).. but this is a garrett like our evo 8/9.

We choose the core's based on application.

That's what I was trying to say, I guess I just couldn't verbalize it properly in order to make much sense. But this is why I said that I kind of screwed myself over on the install because I switched to the stock Evo cooler before upgrading to the CBRD unit because the Evo only has 1 removable stud. Thanks Chad

I just got back from a meeting with Chad the owner of CBRD and taking a tour of their shop to see some of the products they've been making for the Ralliart, and I was very impressed!! Everything was top notch and it's evident that Chad is extremely committed to quality and customer service. We even got to take a test drive in the 2011 Ralliart Sportback he owns which has been modified with many of the newly developed CBRD parts, and that thing is a beast! I'm looking forward to doing business with these guys in order to bring my own Ralliart up to the next level in performance
