Its definitely not a plug & play solution, but it gives you a ton of features for a relatively low price.
Alltogether I have spent around $800 inluding all the little odds and ends and materials for fabricating the screen into the dash bezel. Here is what my setup consists of:
I had an aftermerket headunit from my old car that I will be using to run all the audio through and for radio. Some people choose to forgo a HU all together, and in such a case, you wouldnt need to fabricate a dash panel as there are double-din pc touchscreens out there.
Like I said, this is no plug and play solution. I have spent hours upon hours setting up software, etc, and I plan to spend about 3 hours wiring up the car the way I will want. The advantage is there is truly no limit to what you can do. There are people running projectors out of their headlights, controlling neon, airbags, ac & heat, etc all with computers in their car. If your into building things yourself, and like computers & cars, its definitely a hobby for you. I'll post more pics in another thread once my install is all done.

I have prepared myself a bit to integrate a laptop into my car come spring time. I will use my existent touch screen to start with. Hopefully the 800x? res will work out ok with s-video. I won't have touchscreen support with the laptop which will be a bummer but will maybe move on to a real car pc solution in the future. Was thinking about making a non restricted menu system in visual basic to load evoscan, winamp and more.
